No, Netherlander does not change his colors to match the winning team, which is Ajax, the competition winner this year.

Anyway, never mind. You may not be too interested in Dutch soccer.

But now back to what caused all this, the alleged lobbying of Philips in the US. This can hardly be called exclusively a Philips problem. Most big companies engage in this conduct. And the real problem is of course the politicians that let themselves be influenced by the lobbies.

I even know lots of Dutch people who aren't interested in Dutch football any more. I don't want to go off on a tangent reagarding football, but all the European leagues have too many players from different countries, which makes the local teams look, well, not local..... Premiere League anybody? How many English players do they actually have there in one team? I remember when the English football style used to admired by Dutch football fans. Is the English football style still alive?:suspect:

Isn't the American political system set up in such a way that corporations can buy those whores......I mean politicians? So if a foreign company decides to purchase these politicians isn't the system to blame not the company?

Actually, a lot of Americans don't even realize Philips is a low place (as the French say) company. It's just like that poor doofus Elvis thinking his manager Colonel Tom Parker was actually a "southern gentleman."

-catone

-My real name is the same as the Colonel's: Andreas Cornelis van Kuijk

-Interestingly, the Colonel never let Elvis tour internationally, forgoing serious money, because he would've had to let slip his Breda-born-'n-bred origins if he'd accompanied Elvis abroad.

Are you also against seat belt and catalyser exhaust ?

Now, see, I know you're a gifted sophist, C-man, but in order for your sophistry to be effective and/or entertaining, it has to be, like, comprehensible by your target audience, and this particular member of your target audience is completely baffled by this reply of yours. It's only one of many such bafflers, but let's dissect this one for the sake of science!

-What you appear to be arguing is that consumers who prefer incandescent bulbs are stupid and are harming society and should thus be deprived of their choice of bulbs? And in so saying you're analogizing LED bulbs with seat belts?

-When using solar power, the only way you can keep your place lit at night is by using fluorescents and LEDs?

No it's more the whiny consumer whore shtick that bugs me. I don't remember being able to buy whatever archaic technology putting a huge burden on a ressource scarce planet being phased out while more efficient alternative are offered as being a god given right. But I'm pretty sure my great grandpa threw the same kind of tantrum when they closed the opium smoking parlors...

If everybody continue to use incandescent bulbs, you might be soon be able to be all the snob you want... but in the dark because of blackouts...
Therefore... it should not even be an option...
LEDs are getting available in nearly every color temperatures even if their output don't match the necessary diffusion angle or lumen output to match you previous light fixture... get over it... it's better than walking in the dark...
WHEN A TECHNOLOGY HAVE 10% EFFECTIVENESS... if you still find people to defend it... I can understand the need to enforce a ban... And don't warrrgarble me on the price and philips monopoly... the chinese mass produce led lightbulbs for penny on the dollar...

-promoter of nazi ideology and quoter of Lady Gaga: Check!

Born this way imply genetic origin... which seems to deny any possibility of a choice.

And god(win) knows how easy it is to jump from the classification as "state" to "disease" that must of course be cured... or eradicated... Your quote on the lesbian bed death being cherry on the cake... what next ? experiences on twins ?

We know that LG need to vomit on what she think is controversial to catch few more minutes of fame... but for homosexuality she might be 20 years late, and the way she's doing it... she's 80 years late... she'd better go back to wear meatcurtains and sell "prey for japan" tshirts...

"born this way" also imply "can't help it", not her fault... like if a sexual orientation was to be considered faulty against others... once again homophobia...

-not firing on all cylinders these days: Check!

That's one of the conclusion one can reach...

But yeah... at least we got Flanby for president...

Good to hear that you got a good laugh from it, so, my time was well-spent writing the posting. I heard this song around 30 years ago on the radio at the program of Willem Duys, and it kept reverberating in my head until last year when I found it on Youtube.

Ahhh, my family here cannot appreciate it for some reason, probably because the concept of heavy self-criticism like this is kind of alien in Japan.
