He's at it again. My favorite crackpot, "Debito Arudou"has found a new windmill...

A level playing field?
National Sports Festival bars gaijin, and amateur leagues follow suit, reports
By DEBITO ARUDOU Japan Times Tuesday, September 30, 2003
....Foreigners are barred from competing in Japan's largest amateur athletic meet, the National Sports Festival (Kokutai). Ironic, since the Japan Amateur Sports Association (JASA), which runs the event, has an English Web site proclaiming "Sports for All."

.....an EngRish website for a Japanese thing usually means fuckall  . Its the Japanese penchant for looking cool/fashionable. The EngRish is to pat them selves on the back. ketachi dake as with so many things here is just a way of life. I have discovered the English on most things is usually the most uneccesary information only - and anyway if Japanese really wanted to communiacte with foreigners they would make sure every communication outlet has versions in Korean,Chinese and Portugeuese - since there are more native speakers of these languages here in Japan than there are English speakers

The local Yakuba here organised a sports event - and so myself and a few other FGS from local towns were rolled out. The fact that we were there was most important for the towns ego - photos - announcements.
We were not allowed to compete in the games as a "normal local" - a foreigners soft tennis match was ordered with mass audience - like a circus. Me and a Yank V 2 Aussies. I must say it was the first time a Briton has been involved in beeting Aussies at any sport for at least 50years! :D ...... As a result of this I generally don't turn up a official things in Japan. If I wanted to be a monkey - I would apply to London Zoo
