What's your point? Japan is very much on the cutting edge of a lot of different industries. You've got it all wrong. And don't go mention Ghoson of Nissan; he had a lot of insider help.

the writing is on the wall

unless some really awesome proprietary, world changing IP is developed in japan, and even then, the future here is looking semi bleak... or at least as domestic as weve always known it...

a really fancy north korea i like to call it

at least there is a class of bohemian traveler types, but despite these slightly cooler more backpackery people seeming like typical japanese to people outside of japan, they are not the norm here, as weve probably all experienced

seriously for me at least my image of the country has decreased with my time spent interacting with it on an everyday life kind of level

i do feel sorry for some of my coworkers though who dont have the language skills to be able to hustle their way off this bubble

The only major Japanese corporations I've come across that seem to like the kind if people the article mentions are Rakuten, DeNA, Gree and (oddly enough) Mitsui & Co. They can also get jobs at Japanese investment banks.

Companies in the NTT group tend to treat them like gaijin and hire them as permanent contractors or temps and companies like Fujitsu stick them in shitty overseas sales jobs that pay poorly and get them nowhere within the organization.

Some friends at Hitachi have done well with international mindsets, but the ones I know at Fujitsu are as conservative and by-the-book as I've come across in this country.

I've had to deal with Fujitsu in a professional capacity while I was working at the big H.
