Three fashion faux pas have passed on throughout the various generations of Japanese women I've witnessed in my decades here:

1) Stockings at all times (now as fossilized as I am)
2) Light colored/white shoes with black/dark stockings (still persists, but nowhere near as bad as it used to be)
3) God-awful padded bras...the bras stick out miles from the chest, leaving huge plateaus in the middle of nowhere. And you can't see the nipples. Ever.

It'll change one day, I'm sure. I can still remember when most Japanese women didn't shave their legs (and many wore white stockings then, too. Real sexy!!!!)
