"Topic Reply Notification"

Postby Samurai_Jerk » Wed Aug 08, 2012 10:36 am

I've been getting email notifications whenever a new post is made in a thread I've posted in since the new FG went live. I've checked my Control Panel but see a way to turn it off. Am I missing something?

Have you tried UCP -> "Board Preferences" -> "Edit posting defaults" -> "Notify me upon replies by default"?

I went to UCP -> Manage subscriptions and it appears that I was subscribed to 72 pages worth of posts - over 1000 of them. So I removed my subscription to all of them. There was only a page by page option to mark app and then Unwatch marked. So I had 5 minutes of my life that I didn't want back, so I clicked on all of them..

But it is done now.

It was probably just a glitch where all of the threads that I had posted in automatically became "watched" for me. It would have been nice to be able to ditch them in one go but it was easy enough just to it there and click through the pages.

hmm, I never subscribed to any threads/forums and haven't received any mails.

Sorry about that...

I think it might be better to turn all subscriptions off globally for everyone, and let people re-enable on an individual basis.

GG, it looks like that might have been the issue. I was "watching" 2233 topics. I just unwatched them all. Hopefully that'll take care of it. Thanks.

Shit. I only read the first sentence of GG's post so I didn't realize it had to be done page by page. What a PITA. I think I'm down to 70 pages. :-x

OK, I've found out where the preferences are stored in the database and deleted them for all users. Apologies for the inconvenience.

I guess I should have waited for a fix. I was down to 11 pages when it kicked in.

Unfortunately I have to hold down the day job too, otherwise I'd've been onto things a couple of hours earlier...

My day job is the only reason I was doing it. There's no way I'd do that shit in my precious free time.
