I think I would have ripped him a new bunghole... But in japan, perfect place for a daycare...

According to the plans, the living room windows will be almost directly next to the ventilation outlet of the neighbouring printing factory, and as an added bonus there's a small chemical factory doing things with aluminium just up the road.

Ha, I've seen countless properties laid out like this when I was looking to buy in Yokohama.
It commonly happens when old folks decide to sell and move to a manshon, and their "normal-sized" property gets divided into two L shapes, with a square between them. Realtors then promote the L shaped property as having "parking for 2 - 3 cars!".

This was actually on virgin farmland, where for whatever reason the access road was placed so that there was "space" for two rows of properties between the road and the adjoining factories, with the rearmost properties being the "L"-shaped plots (aka ピストル型地形 or something in real estate agent speak). And indeed there was "space" for "2 cars".

No shortage of the "normal-sized property divided into two or even three" variants either.

Another "interesting" development we saw was a huddle of 5 houses crammed together directly under a high-voltage powerline ("it won't affect TV reception!"). Mind you the houses there did have one redeeming feature, namely the ability to fondle the walls of the neighbouring buildings from the comfort of your own window (if you're into that kind of thing).

That was under the old management. Under the new management we have always been at war with Eurasia.
