Teenage girls from Gillingham Dramatic Society stepped in at the last minute dressed in oriental robes to "meet and greet" and have their photographs taken with visitors.
But their attire caught the attention of former Medway mayor, and honorary mayor of twin town Yokosuka, Sue Haydock...
... Mrs Haydock stepped in to comment on their costumes... "Clearly you have been misinformed. The clothes you are wearing are Chinese, not Japanese, and that will offend people.
The drama group’s secretary Debbie Brennan approached Mrs Haydock to explain the situation..."We were originally told they wanted Tudor wenches, but the a week beforehand they changed their minds and wanted Japanese geisha girls.

If you think about it, all the mizushobai places are just modern, lowe-effort, sleezier versions of the same concept with less talented sluts. Is anyone really surprised that in a country that regularly sexualizes children on mainstream TV that the unique, tradition of dressing up girls like dolls and having them perform for drunk old men has a rapey side to it? I'm not sure about "cancelling" it is the right answer as much as changing the whole pimp...errr, house system. But Japan is gonna Japan and threating to take away their (shielded by culture) touchy feely time with underage girls probably won't go over well. In the west you often hear "what if it was your daughter?!" but I'm pretty sure we all know that won't carry the same weight here.
