According to the following NHK News video report (in Japanese), by traveling at 500 kmh (310 mph) the new maglev will be able to go from Tokyo to Nagoya in 40 minutes (as if anybody in Tokyo would want to go to tacky Nagoya ).

Japan Rail came up a real wienerwinner of an engrish name for their new maglev, the 'L0'---so you can G0 L0w.
For reference, the Shinkansen takes between 100-110 minutes to travel the 342 km (212.5 miles) distance from Tokyo to Nagoya.

Did anybody notice that the new maglev Shinkansen doesn’t need a windshield?
JR plans to have it driven by Japanese fembots with multiple video feeds.

Based on the profitability of current railway tracks 128 years old, I severely doubt that the maglev will still be profitable in 128 years. This goes way beyond the concept of "the long view."

We (Zee French) discovered that after a certain speed, shield wipers become powerless... The solution is to do like for fighter jets, let high pressure wind blow the rain out of the way. Anyway, if there is a cow on the track, at that speed, you'r fucked anyway...

And everytime i walked in feont of Nagoya station I was attacked/olfactorily gang raped by the most putrid stuck loo/backflowing sewer smell I ever encountered.
