The "Mah interwab sucks" thread (former: Lawyering up)

Postby Coligny » Fri Dec 07, 2012 2:21 pm

Is there any kind of expected privacy separation between husband and wife legally speaking ?
Because for medical case there is the concept of guardian where much of anything have to be signed by a second and sometimes third party (even for a fucking invitro fertilisation). So at least for medical seekret it's kept between an already quite large userbase...

It's possible to get a legal separation (and still live in the same house).

yeah, but what i meant is before that, is there anything that can be argued as "privacy" between a couple.

Because i'm at my third breakdown of interweb, AND every fucking time the retard from asahi-net tells me that despite having all the login/pass and calling from the registered phone number/adresse they can not even try a connect/disconnect from the pppoe server because that would be illegal because it's not my name on the bill and therefore fall under protection from privacy laws.

their hotline runs only from 10 to 1700 and guess who is absolutely never available during this time...

At first I was just sooo pissed that i was left wondering what fucking privacy thing they have to protect... then following another tirade in the car aboot pregger schoolgirl (*) asking for an abortion but without having told her parents and therefore not having guardian/custodian autorisation... I'm starting to wonder if asahi is not just fucking with me on this because if there is no expect privacy between h&w then someone at asahi deserve beheading... (posting tethered from my iphone... again)

sorry, no vietnam yet...

(*) i'm not involved... for chokonen, not so sure, have to double check...

It sounds like your internet provider only wants to deal with the person whose name is on the contract. That sounds like reasonable covering their arse there. This has nothing to do with familial relationship. It sounds like you might need to have the person who contracted authorise you to act on their behalf.

If I read what he wrote correctly, the person whose name is on the contract won't make the call. I disagree that it's a reasonable level of ass covering. If a family is using a service anyone in the family should be able to make the call. Especially if we're talking technical support. It's not like he's trying to cancel the contract or something. Although that does sound like a good option if he can get a better ISP.

One thing I love about Japan is that all they do to verify your identity is ask if you're the person whose name is on the contract. Coligny could have any Japanese female call for him and say "yes". With that level of security, why even bother?

I had two choice for this breakdown...

1: was to unplug everything and wait few hours for a timeout in their pppoe server (whut i did overnight)
2: plug my nose and pretend i wuz me bitch... (will do dat next time)

USUALLY asahinet is flawless, but this part of their techsupport decorum is unbearable...

I think the interweb is broken. Our connection is often unreliable.

I'm thinking of changing to carrier pigeon

What kind of router do you have, and is your interweb less broken after you reset your router?

My interweb has got a lot better since I replaced the existing router with one I got off someone on the street in Takadanobaba (I kid you not).

the router is called Arris, comes with the cable TV package

we get a lot of digital noise on the TV too, I think the provider is generally oversubscribed

Cable or fibur ?

I remember back in the days, there was a bit of a fight between the bandwith for the net and for the telly on my cable connection.

it says cable on the modulator demodulator

the wife deals with all of this and I just say yes, apparently our entire communication experience is provided by a man in a little blue van

apparently he comes at 160Mbps, but they don't actually guarantee this

It makes me thankful that my family wasn't religious

Was a bad attempt at otaku humor though in my case, probably not too far from reality

I'm using Asahi.net. My traffic to Americas turns to shit at night -- the time I want to stream. Shit sucks.

Just saying it's the pipe in general? Could be, although I find it curious why the bandwidth across the pond goes to such shit. Whenever I go to an internet cafe here, everyone is surfing J-Porn which I assume is in data centers here. (I'm tall... one of the curses of being tall is the aforementioned).

yeah, the man in the van came round and fixed the interweb, phone & tv, needed a stepladder to do it, apparently the junction box was in need of repair.

all we do is watch the Nation Histovery Channel, occasionally use the phone and stalk people on the interweb so JCom serves us well
