SOS!! The World of No1 Tsukiji fish Market from Tokyo Japan.

Tsukiji is the largest market in the world.
Seafood from all over the world arrives early each morning in a bustle of activity.

The Tokyo goverment is forcing Tsukiji fish market to
relocate to Tokyo Gas refinery contaminated land.

There are dual problems of polluted land and a liquefaction risk.

Benzene, hydrocyanic acid, chromium, etc, have been detected.
The levels have been verified to be thousands to tens of thousands
of times over goverment safey levels.

Is this we have we should be moving?

We have been appealing against this plan for years.

We want to preserve and protect our excellent food culture for
Japan's future and for our children.

When you study the issues concerning Tsukiji,
Mr Yamazaki and other concerned groups welcome your comments and ideas for resolving this problems

As far as contaminated land is concerned, does anyone remember the Daigo Fukuryu Maru? It was a fishing boat that got caught in the fallout range of the Bikini H-bomb tests in 1954. The contamination was severe enough to kill one of the crew, and when the boat arrived in Tsukiji it set off a nationwide panic (other ships were also affected, though not as severely. Altogether, about 850 boats and 460 tons of fish were found to be contaminated).

So what did they do with the 2 tons of radioactive tuna and shark meat? They buried it all under the market. There's even a plaque by the entrance informing people of it.

Although benzene and heavy metal contamination in the ground does admittedly sound like a much greater long-term health risk.

Compared to todays scandals and those poor farmer from Fukushima that can't even sell their nukular waste as food without being denounced by mean interwab people. That burial decision was exemplary...

Iconic Tokyo fish market to close, replacement design unveiled
CNN Travel | 11 December, 2012
...
The Tokyo metropolitan government recently released its design for a new wholesale seafood market set to open in 2014. Tsukiji's planned replacement will be larger, but likely not have the same character...construction on the new market will begin once the Tokyo government successfully neutralizes toxic substances from a nearby former gas factory...more...

Tsukiji is located on what was supposed to have been the main venue for the (eventually canceled) 1940 Tokyo Olympics...it was an event to be held in conjunction in the 2,600th anniversary of the ascension to the throne of the Emperor Jinmu.

....I guess if the descendants of the knuckleheads who won the 1940 Games get their way and Tokyo wins in 2020, it's pretty auspicious: 80 years since the cancellation and the 2,680th anniversary of the ascension to the throne of the Emperor Jinmu.

It's fucken amazing what you can do when your beautiful cuntry has four seasons and "scientific research" is clobbering the fucken bejeezus out of cetaceans while selling your ships to the enemy.
