Lost In Transaltion...

Postby hanasims » Sun Oct 12, 2003 11:41 pm

A few questions about the movie. Did the company Bob Harris (the main character) was working for send a hooker to his room? Is this common among Japanese companies to do? Also, what was that laser gun thingy the guy was shooting at them in the club? Thanks.

I think he was shooting a bb-gun. As for the prostitute, I've never had the pleasure to lip any women's stocking in my own private room. But, hostess bars and "health fitness clubs" are common for client negotiations.

it's interesting hearing some of the japan-based gaijin reactions to these new american made japanese films. all in all it seems that everyone's been going easy on them, I expected to hear much more criticism. very curious to see if the same latitude will be given to The Last Samurai, easily the one of the three films (Lost.., Bill, Last Sam..) to heap scorn upon.

The thing about Lost In Translation is that (please don't yell  ) that it isn't really a movie about Japan. It doesn't concentrate so much on Japan and the Japanese culture as it does emotional connections to transcend culture. I liked the strip-club scene.

I don't think there is a single guy who DIDN'T like the strip club scene.
I will not abide ignorant intolerance just for the sake of getting along.
