TOKYO (AFP) - Tokyo-based Singaporean photographer Leslie Kee was arrested on Monday on suspicion of obscenity after selling books containing pictures of male genitals at a gallery in Tokyo, police said.

The 41-year-old photographer, known for his pictures of Japanese pop stars including Ayumi Hamasaki, Yumi Matsutoya and Kumi Koda, was arrested along with two Japanese publishing firm employees.

The trio sold seven copies of a book "containing many photographs explicitly showing male genitals and others" to two customers at the gallery in the upscale shopping and entertainment district of Minami Aoyama, a Metropolitan Police Department spokesman said.

The book was each priced at 6,000 yen (S$80), he added.

Toyohashi is totally fucked if they enforce this law... we have naked statues of people with carved poon and wieners all along the main street(*)(**)... and don't get me started on the medical books at home...

More confusing censorship. I just watched the movie Lovelace on DVD. Of course there are a couple of oral sex scenes which this being a major Hollywood movie consisted of the back of someone's head bobbing up and down in front of a crotch obscuring the real action. I'm sure there were no genitals or pubic hair visible but even so the entire head and region around the crotch were blacked out. I've never seen that level of censorship in a movie here before. Are Japanese distributors getting more squeamish?

The scene are dark, and insead of of discrete black smudging they put a fcking light beige circle up your face.
Video club version are usually hit pretty hard. Because if you look a the see through series from Queen/Kingdom publishing (Ref KIDMxyz) it's clear they didn't get the memo about mosaic. And all their bitches are shaved clean.

It really doesn't affect me. I don't watch that many TV shows or movies at home so I decided to cancel the Internet connection I had. I watch most of my streaming content during my lunch break at work and pay about 1000 yen a month for 4 DVDs to be delivered from Tsutaya Discas which is more than enough for me.

Good question. I think I only hit it once when I was stuck at home with the flu bored out of my mind binge watching American dorama. Plus I can always tether my laptop to my iPhone (also paid for by the company) if the wi-fi slows down too much.
