I'm serious though. I really hope that the people of Tokyo get out and really protest and show their gov't that they don't want their money wasted on what will be one of the biggest boondoggles in the history of the Olympics. If they thought Nagano was bad, that was only a winter games. Summer games is more like X1000.
When Torono was bidding their were protest on a weekly basis, and when the IOC voted and Toronto lost to Beijing, some of the voting members claimed that those protests put them off.

LOL, I wonder how all their BS excuses with Fukushima and everything will factor in to the decision making process. (and I hope they get denied because of it)

I am surprised that Brazil hasn't got crazy good at judo yet. but then again, judo is very limited compared to BJJ.

Tokyo Olympic bid committee insists public is behind 2020
Tokyo's 2020 Olympic bid leaders believe they have widespread public support, despite results of polls indicating pulses had yet to begin racing in the Japanese capital.

A survey conducted by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) survey showed just 47 percent of Tokyo's citizens support the city's second successive bid for the Summer Games.

Results of a poll by Tokyo officials showed 65 percent in favour, prompting city governor Shintaro Ishihara to cajole the public to get behind the 2020 bid.

"There are 35 million people living in Greater Tokyo and we've seen mostly great support," Tokyo's bid CEO Masato Mizuno told Reuters on Wednesday.

"You can never relax but we hope to get public support to around 70 to 80 percent by the end of the year."

The IOC poll showed 78 percent supported Madrid's bid with 73 percent backing the Istanbul bid in the three-horse race for the right to stage the Summer Games eight years from now.

Low public support was largely blamed for Tokyo, which hosted Asia's first Olympics in 1964, losing the race to host the 2016 Games. The city's failed bid earned the highest marks from the IOC's technical evaluation committee but still lost out to the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro.

Tokyo threw its hat into the ring for 2020 despite their plans being thrown into doubt by last year's deadly tsunami and resulting nuclear crisis.

Ishihara called Tokyo's citizen's "spoiled" after learning of the IOC survey results.

"The people of Tokyo don't have to come to the Olympics," the outspoken 79-year-old told reporters. "The rest of Japan will come."...

Meanwhile it looks like the Japanese Olympic Committee is going for the comedy vote:

"Tokyo is the world's most forward-thinking city," said Japanese Olympic Committee chief Takeda. "It sets global trends in everything from technology to fashion.

I think I'll need to set them up into groups and eliminate the groups that fail visual inspection right off the bat...

:keyboardcoffee: Care to name a few of these "trends" that were set by Tokyo Missa Takeda? Blatant prejudice, poor planning, love hotels and too much head on beer don't count either...

The Olympics just got even crappier. Though this aricle isn't specifically Japan related they were talking about this on the news tonight and how it's going to hurt Japan's medal count in the 2020 Olympics.

LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) — IOC leaders dropped wrestling from the Olympic program on Tuesday, a surprise decision that removes one of the oldest Olympic sports from the 2020 Games.
The IOC executive board decided to retain modern pentathlon — the event considered most at risk — and remove wrestling instead from its list of 25 "core sports."
The IOC board acted after reviewing the 26 sports on the current Olympic program. Eliminating one sport allows the International Olympic Committee to add a new sport to the program later this year.
Wrestling, which combines freestyle and Greco-Roman events, goes back to the inaugural modern Olympics in Athens in 1896.
"This is a process of renewing and renovating the program for the Olympics," IOC spokesman Mark Adams said. "In the view of the executive board, this was the best program for the Olympic Games in 2020. It's not a case of what's wrong with wrestling, it is what's right with the 25 core sports."
Adams said the decision was made by secret ballot over several rounds, with members voting each time on which sport should not be included in the core group. IOC President Jacques Rogge did not vote.
Wrestling was voted out from a final group that also included modern pentathlon, taekwondo and field hockey, officials familiar with the vote told The Associated Press. They spoke on condition of anonymity because the voting details were not made public.
The board voted after reviewing a report by the IOC program commission report that analyzed 39 criteria, including television ratings, ticket sales, anti-doping policy and global participation and popularity. With no official rankings or recommendations contained in the report, the final decision by the 15-member board was also subject to political, emotional and sentimental factors.
The international wrestling federation, known by the French acronym FILA, is headed by Raphael Martinetti and is based in Corsier-sur-Vevey, Switzerland. Calls to the federation for comment were not immediately returned.
Wrestling featured 344 athletes competing in 11 medal events in freestyle and seven in Greco-Roman at last year's London Olympics. Women's wrestling was added to the Olympics at the 2004 Athens Games.
Wrestling will now join seven other sports in applying for inclusion in 2020. The others are a combined bid from baseball and softball, karate, squash, roller sports, sport climbing, wakeboarding and wushu. They will be vying for a single opening in 2020.

I may have mis-read it, but I think a couple of the sports papers are already speculating that the wrestling elimination may be due to Korean shenanigans.

The same happened with windsurfing, which was kicked out for 2016 in favor of kite surfing due to some dudes on the committee sleeping, but then they appealed a few months later and won it back.

I think there will still be a chance to get this corrected.

Speaking of wrestling I did about an hour of takedown drills followed by about 45 min of sparring last night. That's the first time I've done takedowns in at least a year. Fucking brutal on the back and knees.

Being a fat, lazy, booze bag and training in MMA aren't mutually exclusive. I only go to the gym about 2 or 3 times a month but my body still remembers the basics. I'm trying to force myself to go 3X a week a or more and start dropping some weight. That shit is starting to catch up with me.

Ya... he always made that impression.

Then again... I never met SJ in the real world...

I need to get back into wrestling myself... I was thinking of doing jits with my frind and his brother (a pro MMA fighter) to get me back in shape... I really need to get my ass in shape...
