Japanese salesman over the years have tried to get me clean after we placed a large order.
Most Kawasaki's Establishments of Hygiene refused us. Other places such as in Tokyo's Akasaka district that salesmen have dragged me into were OK with FG. Having a Japanese with you is no guarantee of "full service". Be prepared for polite refusals and plenty of other establishments that are really eager to get you clean (of your money).

In other words, your chances of getting into a soapland or other pink establishment is next to nil. Those sorts of places usually refuse gaijin, regardless of who they are with or how fluent their Japanese is.

I do think it does depend on who you are with. A gaijin friend of mine has a girlfriend whose father *cough* has a video camera right above his office door. He's pretty chummy with the father and he basically gets free reign in all of the establishments plus more.

Nah, it's not odd at all.
Think about it: it's the one great common interest they can talk about---sex transends language barriers. I've heard of fathers lending out "used" mistresses to kill two birds with one stone.

Sure, if you are an FG who just happens to have the rare luck of being friendly with an influential oyaji, perhaps you can get in. Hence my use of the word "usually". For most other FGs (such as the guy who asked the question in the first place), that's probably not an available option.

100% I went to a couple of strip clubs in Tokyo with all Japanese dancers with some of my friends.

I have no answer for pink or soap cause I never tried....scared of deseases
