Unhappy malfunctioned cell phone user thrilled at receiving

SHIBUYA, Tokyo -- Trev Chapster, Japanese cell phone lover and and self-confessed "gadget geek," was deeply shocked last Tuesday when receiving a notification in the mail that his recently purchased cell phone will need upgrading to fix a "software malfunction." However Chapster's mood changed from one of anger to thrill when he discovered the free 500 Yen Toshoken Tosho voucher the cell phone manufacturer presented him for his troubles. "All was forgiven when I saw that little baby. A 500 Yen voucher, Yata!"

X, given the comments on the article here, I take it you're the author of that piece?

Have you thought about writing for Slate? :D You'd do a much better job that then "2-months in Japan wonder" they're using now. Guy's trying to get a finger on the pulse of Japan and ends up with his thumb up his ass. :roll:

awesome dude... thanks for kind words and yes that was my little piece. sorry for being stupid but unsure of slate. mag, website?? i know ill use google to try and find it so i can get at this slate place. the writer you are talking about doesnt sound so good.

got it... i can see what your talking about now. nothing new in that article and its been done a billion times on other websites and magazines. thats the trouble with a most japan based magazines and websites that feature articles. most of it is simply done over and over again. even my own website started out that way... but iam taking steps to pull it in a direction that has a special theme. sure its "onion-ish" but no-one else is doing this kind of thing based on a japan theme. i would like to think its new. on another note this is why i like fucked gaijin. its mainly a forum but diff a place that stands out from the mainstream.
