I can't quite put my finger on it, but maybe something in this anecdote applies to countries which are not Korea as well :twisted:

No, no, there's a huge racist conspiracy against foreigners and the whole country is in on it. The ones who aren't spending every waking minute plotting how to actively oppress us at every turn are just mindless cogs incapable of critical thinking, submitting to a groupthink of ingrained xenophobia taught from childhood. That woman in my home doesn't really love me, those people I hang out with aren't really my friends, those kids my son plays with are actually bullying him for his crime of other-ness. It's all one big ultranationalist state marching lockstep toward fascism, all devoted to hating white people (maybe sometimes there's racism toward non-whites too, but I'm sure that doesn't count).

I read it in the Japan Times, so it must be true.
