I wonder if anyone on the FG is in the 100 million yen range? My guess would be that Taro is close.

Heh. I thought the same thing. "Is it in yen? So does that make it per-hour? Who gets paid per hour in Japan? And are there jobs that pay 50,000 yen per hour? And if there are, where can I get one?" :)

As a small business owner my take home salary is negligible - ie nothing!! I get paid in shares - occassionally. This is not what I tell the tax office of course as they would send an auditor to inspect my colon to find out what I am using to survive..

Yes but.... when billing a J-client, 50,000 yen/hour is fairly standard in Japanese IT consulting as it is in J-law.

Ah, but there's a difference between billing by the hour at a high rate and having an employee paid by the hour at a high rate.

Not anymore.. try 10,000 per hour for IT consulting.. this is the going rate that most consulting companies charge. (not myself of course) Not sure about Law but perhaps Kamome can enlighten us on that score.

Depends on the prestige of the firm and the level of experience the attorney has. I'd say the range is anywhere from JPY 20,000 - 70,000 per hour.

I've paid 20,000 yen in the past but my upcoming immigration/pension lawsuit is gonna cost 50,000 y/h. As far as 10,000 per hour for IT consulting -- SHEEEEEEEEEE-IT -- My air-con man or plumber gets that.

Yep I know!!! I have thought many a time - especially lately - that I am in the wrong job.. I could make more as a hostess.. but I would probably belittle the customers too much with my rapier wit....
