4 months is too short!

Last December, while the curfew on US military personnel was still in effect, a Misawa airman, went out, got high on "herbs", crashed his car while driving, causing a fire. Ran from the scene but was soon captured, then tried to run when taken to the police station, and was only given 4 months in jail! For the damage he caused, and the fact that he tried to run twice, four months seems really lenient to me.
Or will he also face other punishment from the military?

For a first offender under Japanese law, it's a pretty harsh sentence considering the crimes committed.

Even if he doesn't end up in Leavenworth, having a dishonorable discharge or even a non-judiciary punishment will pretty much screw up the rest of his life... the same as any felony conviction.
