Super Bug

Scientists have found a "superbug" strain of gonorrhea in Japan that is resistant to all recommended antibiotics and say it could transform a once easily treatable infection into a global public health threat.

The new strain of the sexually transmitted disease -- called H041 -- cannot be killed by any currently recommended treatments for gonorrhea, leaving doctors with no other option than to try medicines so far untested against the disease.

Magnus Unemo of the Swedish Reference Laboratory for Pathogenic Neisseria, who discovered the strain with colleagues from Japan in samples from Kyoto, described it as both "alarming" and "predictable."

"Since antibiotics became the standard treatment for gonorrhea in the 1940s, this bacterium has shown a remarkable capacity to develop resistance mechanisms to all drugs introduced to control it," he said.

In a telephone interview Unemo, who will present details of the finding at a conference of the International Society for Sexually Transmitted Disease Research (ISSTDR) in Quebec, Canada on Monday, said the fact that the strain had been found first in Japan also followed an alarming pattern.

"Japan has historically been the place for the first emergence and subsequent global spread of different types of resistance in gonorrhea," he said.

Why the old news?

So this super clap has been around for over a year now. What's happened?
Never criticize anyone until you've walked several kilometres in their shoes.
Because

1. You're now several kilometres away; and

2. You've got their shoes.

I'm glad he put it up...until seeing this, I'd always thought the "super-clap" was something North Koreans had to do in unison whenever one of the dynastic rulers of their democratic people's republic showed their faces in public.

There was a report a couple of months ago about some J-chick being diagnosed with superclap in her throat; wonder if this is the same thing or another mutation still.

That makes no sense. How could that even be possible if STDs come from gaijin?

Are you crazy? Those STDs may well come from filthy barbarians, but once the sons and daughters have them in their unique bloodstreams, they have to become super strains resistant to plain, old ordinary strains that anyone can get....

...FWIW, same thing happened with myxomatosis used to eradicate rabbits in Oz.

because the Japanese are so close to nature, it is hard for some lower life form (know as the FG) to create a vaccination for something so god like.

Land of four seasons, nuclear fuckedness, aging retards, and the super clap...

I took fine note that the subject came from Kyoto... me not gonna bang any kyoto chicks for time being.

Only time I ever heard of myxomatosis was listening to the BBC radio show of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Also knows as Bunny Pox. A central part in Peter Jackson's very family friendly film "Meet the Feebles".

I wouldn't doubt we're brothers, last year I banged my friend's ex fiance. I wouldn't have gone near her if I knew but it makes for a good laugh.

NZ? Wasn't it Australian?
(Y'know, like Split Enz, Crowded House, Russell Crowe, Dragon, etc., etc., etc...)

Sorry, you can't call this one, mate.
It was written and directed by Peter Jackson.
Unlike the above bands etc... (mentioned in white  ) I don't think he ever moved his operation to Australia. He went straight to Hollywood after his success in NZ.

Re: Super Bug

Postby Mike Oxlong » Tue May 07, 2013 3:45 pm

Say aloha to the new sex “superbug.” A drug-resistant strain of gonorrhea has been confirmed in Hawaii, and doctors are warning that it has the potential to be “a lot worse than AIDS in the short run because the bacteria is more aggressive and will affect people more quickly.” The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is seeking $50 million from Congress to research an antibiotic that could treat the disease. Called HO41, the “sex superbug” was first discovered in Japan in 2011 and now has spread to Hawaii, California, and Norway...
