I think these old codgers deserve job security and pay raises. God knows I don't wanna have to work myself to death just to keep a roof over my head when I'm 50. I support the cruise control system.

Either step up to the plate or get out of my way. The expensive and underperforming middle and upper-management ought to be the first ones to go. Sadly this is rarely the case here in Japan so AK, you have job security here.

I don't know how old you are but awhile ago there was a poll that illustrated that I'm around average on FG at 35. I don't know about you but I can already feel my body winding down a bit. For example, when I was 18 I was hysteric at rock concerts. I was always the most spastic person in the club, twitching around like a fish being electrocuted out of water. Now, I just look like the typical fan, pumping my fist or giving the classic forefinger and pinky up rock on Satan dude man sign. Seeing how older people get tired easier and have more financial responsibilities it makes sense to work the younger guys a little harder but kick back some extra dough to the older folks with the assumption that the same system will benefit the whippersnappers when they become codgers. It's not like these old salary men in Japan haven't paid their dues. Plus, I don't know anybody whose getting off easy so have a heart brother. It's always good to contemplate these things after a bong hit, btw.

Perhaps these two factors are linked.

I am in no way winding down. I am in my prime and just getting better. 8)

There are no free rides. But then perhaps people with more experience can get the same work done in shorter amount of time with less wrong turns to achieve the goals. The results should count more than the effort put in.

However, just because somebody has more financial responsibilies it is not the reason to pay them more for less work or lower productivity. Pay people on the value they bring to their companies and not just becuase they have managed to hold onto their jobs for x-number of years. But in this day and age, this is sometimes an achievement in itself.

There is no value to a company for somebody who comes to work everyday and stares out a window..

You old commie!!

You sound like you need to get some private super organised for yourself. Let your money work for you instead.

Don't rely on anybody else taking care of you in your dotage.. unless you raise your kids to take care of you.

private superannuation or a pension fund!! Don't expect the government to be able to pay for your needs in retirement.

There is a heap of good information out there to read.. also the government pension plans are not good either.. take control of it for yourself.

what are you spending it on? bongs? Not that there is anything wrong with that.. but there comes a time where everybody is responsible for their own finances.. it is called prioritising. Laziness when you are 35 is a poor excuse for not being able to feed yourself when you are 70.

You are only as valuable as your last hard day's work and the value of this dimmishes over time. You can't work hard in your 20's and expect to be rewarded for it for the next 40 years.

It is like the tired old movie star trying to continue to dine out on an academy award nomination in the 70's. It is pathetic.
