Dear friends,
I have just spoken to Garin's wife on the phone. She contacted me, because she was very concerned, due to posts added here yesterday, that people think that not enough is being done to find Garin. This is frankly not the case at all. There are many professional people involved, who are working on this and advising his family.
Many on FVJ have wondered about whether the police have checked his passport, telephone records and bank accounts. The hard reality is that to do this, legal procedures have to be completed first. These laws are designed not as hurdles, but to protect an individual's privacy. For the police to gain access to this sensitive information, it takes time and patience.
Indeed, patience is what Garin's wife is asking from us. She told me that she deeply appreciates everyone's concern and willingness to help, but please trust that his family are doing everything they can.
Again, I request that everyone please show extraordinary sensitivity and judgement. This is the best way we can help his family, at this time.

The family says they got all the "professional" help they need. They want us to butt out of their business. Ok. Fine. Whatever. (Just don't expect us to not to wonder WTF happened, sheesh.)chokonen888 wrote:3 weeks to gain sensitive information about one's missing spouse? Even in Japan, that seems far fetched. Still a "hang fire" on plastering Tokyo with missing posters and such? Doesn't make much sense with the info we've read. And the kicker...going missing in the middle of the day in downtown Tokyo?? WTF is going on?

Would he have gone straight to the airport after removing that battery from his mobile phone? Wondering where he is now? Hong-Kong, no?

was my wife's first comment, especially with the second kid, not unheard of
my theory is he went for some asian relaxation therapy and got caught up in an immigration sweep, hence the radio silence
