Exactly. Coligny is one of the worst offenders on here in terms of personal attacks and stirring up shit, yet he's also usually one of the first to call for someone to be banned. And, by the way, omae mona isn't the only one who's heard that certain members have stopped coming around much because of him.

And I don't think you are really catching the difference between personnal attack (against persons, -duh- like CST against me or shoko) and reaction triggered by similar behaviour patterns (against ideas/concept/bias or prejudices). Mostly toward bossy behaviour from people having a too big habit of "my way or the highway" but not recognising they are totally outside of their sphere of power/ influence or just that their self centered reality distortion field don't work against mine (more Poe/Lovecraftian based)(the reason why i don't dwell wapanese forums like francejapon for example)...

For the record, I'm not saying you should be banned and I realize this isn't the same thing. I tend to agree with Choko and SDH about this particular douche though. It's not like he's spamming the forum up with tons of messages like some real trolls we've had in the past. If he is banned, it's not going to bother me though.

The trouble usually with these kind of people is either they just disappear after being nothing else than a nuisance, or seing that they are free from consequence continue to shit all over the carpet until the situation become totally unbearable...

Moderation policy on FG (while not written in stone) has tended to draw a line between unpleasant content and disruptive content. I kind of think that's one element that has always made FG better than a lot of other Japan-related forums. Moderators tend to exercise restraint on tampering with content just because they don't like it (and they tend to get chewed out by other moderators when they are seen as going over the line). In the end I think that policy leads to more diversity and more interesting material.

I think some of the posters above hit on the reason for the ban on Univermin (which, by the way, is temporarily temporary). There's no sign he came here for anything but to upset people and start a flame war. No interaction, no posts outside of the intentionally inflammatory material, and not even any interesting or funny commentary. And as I understand, it was basically just dumps of similar material he posted on other sites. Numerous threads were started on basically identical topics. It creates a mess, distracts people, and makes the forum less enjoyable for everybody. I doubt there was one person who actually enjoyed those posts.

Obviously there are some regular members who tend to make the forum less enjoyable for most others, too. But it's harder for moderators to draw a line when it's people who are interacting normally and not actually *trying* to screw things up just for the sake of it (which Univermin was doing). Forums mirror real life that way; we have to deal with people we don't like sometimes.
