Where did you see the punk rocker bit?
From the article you linked to I got the names of the usual Zaitokukai thug, Makoto Sakurai, and photographer Kenji Kubo (久保憲司).
Taro Toporific wrote:Bingo!
I saw different articles talking about the connection of Kenji Kubo (久保憲司) and the punk movement. Now I understand that Kubo was a punk/rock photographer (not a musician) who has been published in all the major magazines like NME, Rolling Stone, etc.

Many Japanese I've met claim to detest types such as the Zaitokukai, but they're effectively saying pretty much the same things as politicians such as Abe, Aso and, even more overtly, Hashimoto and Ishihara -- all of who are among the cuntry's most popular elected officials. Based on my experiences, I suspect Zaitokukai is not too far away from the mindset of the average Japanese, but more prepared to be vociferous about their beliefs. Patterns in voting/opinion polls suggest my suspicions are pretty close to the mark. If that's the case, let us know instead of hiding behind a veneer of feigned enlightenment.
Japanese people really should show their true face -- both of them.

As distaste as Zaitokukai might appear, public support (from the expat community at least) might shift if/when it becomes known some of the other side are represented by characters like this charming North Korean fellow:

It's the unique culture of passive aggressiveness. The average Japanese detest the Zaitokukai because they are too straight forward with their FG hate instead of hating from the shadows like a civilized person should

It turns the words into euphemisms and distances them from the old geezers running the cuntry (Not that they'd do anything about it, but it's a weapon the establishment here uses <which is why Hashimoto was so angry that "comfort woman," a next-to-fucking meaningless term in English, is translated as sex slave, because thats' what the women were. It sounds less offensive, but it also detracts from the seriousness of the issue.)

At least I can deal with the ones who hate me directly. I can even respect it to a degree. I am married with a bunch of kids and have lived here for about a decade. I have a few japanese "friends" but if I were single with 2 or 3 lemurs in each arm, I'm sure most of those nihonjin "friends" would turn on me in a heart beat.
That covert FG hate makes it hard to know who you can share a beer with.

All comes down to insecurity...if they didn't have such shitty confidence issues that they feel threatened by FG, they probably wouldn't have any hate. Instead there's a whole list anywhere from penis envy and "stealin' our women!" to creativity and "stealin' our jobs!" The minute you take away the threat (you're married so no stealing their potential flavors) they become sociable. It's not limited to FG though...most will not date/marry lemurs who make more than them or have more skills/international experience than them. Instead of stepping up and learning, they either want the lemur to come down to their level or write them off. (though that being said, the same probably applies to China and Korea too)
Screwed-down Hairdo wrote:Fear (the real word for insecurity) motivates most of us a lot of the time, so you're not wrong.
In Japan's case, a lot of the racism carries over from prewar indoctrination. And denial. Behavior the locals insist is typical of "we Japanese" displays ALL the classical traits of incurable addiction: dependence, denial, dishonesty, hypersensitivity to criticism, self-centeredness, aversion to change, avoidance of responsibility (or assigning it to others).
