President of KFC Japan buys Colonel Sanders’ trademark white suit at auction for $21K
The Washington Post (2013 June 22)
The CEO of Kentucky Fried Chicken Japan purchased the trademark white suit worn by company founder “Colonel” Harland Sanders at auction Saturday for $21,510---then promptly tried it on. Masao “Charlie” Watanabe grinned while putting on the suit jacket and black string tie at the Heritage Auctions event, standing beneath a photograph of Sanders...
...
Sanders is a popular figure in Japan, and most KFC restaurants there have statues of him in front, Watanabe said. He plans to display the suit at a restaurant in Tokyo...more...

Yeah, all the KFC restaurants in Japan have a statue of the Colonel, but maybe the home office of KFC in conservative Louisville doesn't want to claim the various TBLG* ones in Japan.

In my younger days. I meet the Colonel several times during the making of radio commercials for Kentucky Fried Chicken in the late '60s. He was an ok guy, a bit cranky, but he didn't seem to be galled taking orders from a black radio/sound engineer who I was working/apprenticing under.

However, the Aussies manage to make KFC seem racist to some:

I also found the real rest-of-the-story about the Colonel's racist past:
It is a fact often forgotten today that Kentucky Fried Chicken founder Colonel Harland Sanders (b. 1804) was indeed a colonel in the U.S. Army, serving with distinction in the Mexican-American War and later leading the Kentucky militia in several pivotal battles against the Union in the Civil War. It was not until the war was almost over that Sanders was informed that Kentucky had never actually seceded. Upon learning of this, he was said to have exclaimed, "Why, I'd sooner fry chicken like a nigger than fight for the North!" And, being a Southern gentleman beholden to his word, that was exactly what he did.
With Emancipation soon to arrive, Sanders returned to his plantation and forcibly extracted the names of eleven secret herbs and spices from his slaves, before "mercifully extinguishing them with a claw hammer to save them from the horrors of freedom, which the Negro constitution is too fragile to endure." After spending months perfecting the recipe, he sank all of the scant life savings he had made from his unproductive burlap fields into opening his first restaurant in Corbin, Kentucky. Sanders blanketed nearby towns with flyers and newspaper advertisements announcing its grand opening:
Who among us hasn't found one's Foot shamefully tapping in time with the savage African Rhythms emanating from a Negro Hootenanny, and wished that Music with that kind of Primal Energy could somehow be played by White Men, on proper Christian Instruments?
And who hasn't sought Comfort in the dusky Embrace of a Slave Girl, and dreamt of finding a White Woman possessed of the same raw animal Passion and ample Hind-quarters?
While we can of course offer you no Solutions to those Scenarios, we can give you the next-best Thing: "Darkie-Style" Lard-fried Chicken-parts, prepared entirely by WHITE MEN and sometimes CHILDREN. Come taste the curious new "Eating-Bird" Sensation that is sweeping the South like a rapacious, invading Army, without any of the social Disgrace or Fear of Eternal Damnation.

There was a very sympathetic treatment of Col. Sanders on J-TV not too long ago.

Interesting article, considering that he was born in 1890, 25 years after the end of the US Civil War.

Colonel Sanders

He lived in Canada from 1965 until his death in 1980.

So what was the give away? Was it the, "savage African Rhythms emanating from a Negro Hootenanny" or Sanders seeking the, "Comfort in the dusky Embrace of a Slave Girl"?

Interesting fact about the Colonel's "Secret":
After Colonel Sanders sold Kentucky Fried Chicken in 1964 for millions, he moved to Mexico to follow his True Calling to become a Lucha Libre wrestler.

Sheesh Choko, with your permission I posted this in the J-Babe thread.

KFC all-you-can-eat for 1,200 yen July 3&4

Postby BigInJapan » Tue Jul 02, 2013 8:36 am

All-You-Can-Eat KFC
Wed Jul 3 - Thu Jul 4, 2013 KFC and branches nationwide

How much KFC is too much KFC? You can find out on July 3 and 4, when the finger-lickin' fast food empire celebrates its anniversary with an all-you-can-eat blitzkrieg. Head to 565 participating branches nationwide from 11am-7pm, order up three to fives pieces of chicken, a small portion of fries and a medium soft drink (combined price ¥1,200), and you'll be entitled to carry on gorging on more of the same for the next 45 minutes – i.e. until your stomach bursts or you decide that you never, ever want to eat KFC again. Good times. Note that you'll need to book in advance; reservations are being taken in-store until July 2.

You're not alone...

We brought some KFC home one day...
After the car trip it was not looking safe to eat... So we shamelessly tried to give it to the cats. Telling them it was McDo...
No luck... It stayed on the plate, they just smelled it, not even taking one bite.

I talked aboot that with the vet since our cats are equally addicted to Mc Nuggets... And her five feline pack (*) is equally refusing to touch anything KFC...

So, i don't know what's wrong with their chicken, maybe they wash the meat with too much amoniac (which is found in cat pee and therefore not exactly an indicator of food grade stuff...)

(*) that would explain the number of MercoBenz, one benz per cat... Sometimes they don't like to share...

Seriously, I'd take McNuggets over KFC. I dunno exactly what the nuggets are of exactly, but at least they taste of something.

Right, they don't use ammonia, they use chlorine.
Cat people avoid bleach/chlorine for cleaning cat pee(which his full of ammonia), because it gives the "pee here again" signal to the felines. Despite being one of the few chemicals able tho kill the cat pee smell...
