A 53-year-old Japanese man, Kazumi Taga, was sentenced to a pair of life prison sentences without parole by a Los Angeles Superior Court judge Thursday for murdering his wife and daughter more than three years ago.
Taga pled guilty to killing Yuriko, 38, and Megumi, 4, whose bodies were found bound together and weighted down by a diving belt in a Los Angeles harbor in September 2000. In the plea arrangement, previous charges that he had murdered his wife for financial gain and had tried to poison her on two occasions were dropped.
