Can't stay signed in

Postby Samurai_Jerk » Fri Aug 30, 2013 11:44 am

I haven't been able to stay signed in the last couple of weeks. This is true on both my work and home computer so I don't think it has anything to do with my settings Besides I was able to stay singed in before. I'm not sure but it seems to be happening since the latest Tapatalk upgrade. It's not a big deal but I'm curious if anyone else is experiencing this.

It seems like it has nothing to do with Tapatalk. I guess the site just won't let you stay logged in for more than a couple of hours anymore.

I don't have that problem. I can stay logged on for the whole day and occasionally have a peek and make a reply without being thrown off.

Something with your settings / provider?

I never had that problem before and it started happening on both my work and home computers at the same time. Maybe it's a Chrome update issue.

Tapatalk stays signed in by the way.

My logins from different PCs are working fine, no unexpected logouts. No-one else has complained, so I'd put money on the problem being somewhere between your ISP and your end devices...

One computer is at home and one is at the office. Different devices, different Internet connections.

Same chrome ?

Google really embraced the whole "we are th3 new microsoft" personna by making sure every new release of previously good software outsuck by a wide margin the beta version.

Google map is going down the shitter at an impressive speed... And still no "places" bookmarks management...

OK, make that "between your ISPs and your end devices".

Browser + version, OS? Have you tried different browsers?

Try this ...

There's a link right at the bottom of the phpBB page (i.e. any FG.com page) that says "Delete all board cookies." Click it. You'll probably have to log in again after doing that, but it might solve your problem, for a while at least. I've had a similar problem with phpBB in the past, and that little trick helped.

'Taint that. Testing to see if it's a browser issue now. Since I'm using two different computers, on two different ISPs, running different versions of Windows, I'm guessing it's Chrome.

I didn't even know one can stay logged in, until I read this thread! Has always been automatically logged out in less than 10 ~15 minutes (from the time I logged in) since my day one here. But I mainly use my mobile to surf.

I think you also need to check the "stay logged in" box, just under "I lost my password" before "my car broke down" and "I need a cheap rental video projector"

I can only see the "log me in automatically" button on my phone. It's ok.. a bit mendokusai to keep signing in but that helps me remembering my password here :)

Can't stay signed in

Postby Samurai_Jerk » Wed Sep 04, 2013 1:11 pm

Explorer is keeping me signed in on both computers so it looks like it is indeed an issue with Chrome as a I suspected. The weird thing is it doesn't seem to be affecting any other sites I use so I guess Chrome just doesn't like FG's cookies (or maybe forum cookies since I don't use any others).

i use chrome and have no issues. but probably because you are also logged on in IE where as I have my browsers synced at the office and in both OSs on my personal computer.

I think Hammer's tip concerning your cookies is most relevant here.

Did you really remove all your cookies for FG?

I did what he suggested but didn't remove all cookies for all sites in Chrome options yet.

Is there an option "Allow the following sites to set cookies"? If so, is FG on that list?

It's not the cookies. I removed all the FG cookies in my Chrome settings and logged on again but I'm still having the same problem.

The problem never fixed itself. Fuck Chrome. Now if I could only convince my company to get off Google Apps so I could stop using it.

The problem seems to have resolved itself on both of my computers at the same time. Weird. I guess there was a Chrome update that fixed it.

I fondly [*] remember the time when Chrome first came out and the designer-hipsters where I was working at the time immediately downloaded it, and shortly thereafter started complaining that the company web app (which I was developing) was "buggy", 'cept I was able to demonstrate that it worked fine on every halfway mature browser and even on IE6 [**] and later, just not on the latest Google beta-product-de-jour ...

Anyway thank fuck the day job no longer involves supporting web applications ("Yes I know Facebook has that feature, now if you could give me even 1/10th of Facebook's development budget maybe we could support it too").
