Ok so she's ABC, not Japanese but they're making a big deal about this and calling the comments about her eyes being too small and expressionless "racist."

Show her to a few lemurs here and what do they say? "Ugly and small eyes before!! She also got her nose but she's still uhhgry panda make!"

She didn't change her race and she was literally told her small eyes "disinterested and bored." Getting plastic surgery to advance a career on camera is hardly unique and placing blame on racism or "bigots" with some added "selling out her race" seems to me to be making an issue of a non issue. The whole, "our audience can't relate to you being Chinese" is a totally separate issue thrown in there.

So what's your take?

that was what her boss said and because of it she is where she is... her face is part of the job and in the area she was broadcasting (whityville), it would make sense to them... please the viewers i guess.

The problem was makeup. Not her eyes. Her makeup is horrible in that first picture.

Yeah...I mean, there's racism and then there's this shit. She's basically trying to say racism is to blame for her plastic surgery on here eyes...when it seems like it's just an excuse for her surgery to not be fugly to be socially acceptable. There are fugly people from every "race"

Here is a better comparison. This is why I said she's cute. She looks alright for 40 something.

She looks younger than in her 40's for sure...but that's not so special when she's had that much work done. (and we know how bad that will look later in life) I was more saying that the makeup wasn't her only problem from the beginning...those eyes, the nose, the butt chin.

BUT

I still don't think she's cute after surgery. Her looks aren't the only reason why she doesn't belong on TV either.

Whoa there, not saying she has to be a beauty queen but she wasn't exactly easy on the eyes before and when you can flip to another news channel in a sec. It's understandable that being easy on the eyes is valued in that position. (of course it helps if they can actually perform their duties with reasonable skill )Google hot weathergirls and you'll see just ho much of a ratings difference they may make.
