A Japanese company has manufactured wine especially for felines.
On Tuesday, pet food and supplement maker B&H Lifes launched its newest product, Nyan Nyan Nouveau (“meow Nouveau”).
In a press release, the company stated that the wine comes in the wake of popular products such as Wan Wan Beer (woof woof beer) and after receiving numerous requests from customers asking for “a drink for my cat that we can celebrate Christmas and birthdays with!”
Nyan Nyan Nouveau does not, in fact, contain any alcohol, but is packed full of vitamins and, along with a trace of catnip, includes juice from Cabernet Franc wine grapes.
The maker acknowledged that most cats do not tend to consume liquids for their taste, but anticipates a great many orders from pet owners who want their furry friends to join in the fun during the festive season and upon the imminent arrival of this year’s Beaujolais Nouveau, of which Japan is the world’s second-largest consumer after Germany.
Nyan Nyan Nouveau is on sale via B&H Life’s online store, and costs 399 yen for a 180ml bottle.

Amusing photos of cats may provide hours of entertainment for people browsing online but can they be used to help people remember things?
Funny cat photos and videos have become an online fascination in the last few years and have even created "superstars" like Grumpy Cat and Nyan Cat. One is a real-life miserable-looking moggy who has more than 2.5 million Facebook fans; the other is an animated kitten whose rather unimaginative journey across a screen has been viewed more than 100 million times.
Now, one app developer thinks it can tap in to this trend and use cute cat photos to improve people's memory function when learning languages.

Burglar stole Y18.5 mil worth of items during year to feed 120 cats
CRIME DEC. 13, 2013 - 06:44AM JST ( 7 ) TOKYO —
A Japanese man went on a year-long burglary spree, making off with a haul worth 18.5 million yen to feed 120 cats a gourmet diet, police said Thursday.
Mamoru Demizu, 48, is suspected of breaking into houses to steal cash and jewels on 32 separate occasions.
He told police that he stole things to come up with the money to feed scores of his feline friends, spending up to 25,000 yen a day, an officer said.
“He said he felt happiest when he rubbed his cheek against cats,” the officer said.
Unemployed Demizu kept one animal at his home in Izumi City, and about 20 in a nearby warehouse, while feeding 100 more strays that lived in the neighborhood, the police said.
“He would give them fresh fish and chicken, not cheap canned food,” he said.
Truckload of stray cats earmarked for use as food rescued by volunteers in China
As many as 2,800 stray cats in China lived to see the light of another day this week when concerned activists in Wuhan pursued and detained the truck that was carrying them to their fate – as food – in Guangxi Province.
The cats, which were were packed tightly into crudely built wooden cages, were on their way to Nanning in Guangxi Province where they were to be killed and butchered — something that, although frowned upon in northern China, is considered acceptable in some areas of the south, particularly amongst older generations.
Having spotted the truck, the animal welfare volunteers pursued it and were able to block its path until the authorities arrived on the scene. When checked, it was discovered that the truck driver’s papers were forged, prompting the authorities to force him to return to Wuhan where the massive cargo of cats would be quarantined and checked for diseases.
What will happen to these moggies next is unclear, but at least we rest assured that thanks to the efforts of a few kind-hearted people, they will not end up in anyone’s cooking pot!
