So solly ...

Postby Samurai_Jerk » Fri Oct 25, 2013 4:05 pm

What the fuck does "sumimasen" mean?

Well, several linguists have asked themselves that very same question and tried to answer it. I’m going to try my best to summarize some of their findings and describe the uses of sumimasen, an expression so important to the Japanese language and culture.

Could be replaced with a grunt... Would not change one bit on the quality or clarity of the exchange...

Why post an opinion about something you know absolutely nothing about?

You are new to that interwab thing ?

Also, when words, like this one, starts to mean everything and the contrary, you sort of defeat the purpose of a language... even more of a pidgin in fact... And might as well go for grunts... Who at least don't have the pretention of a real defined meaning and purpose.

1. Sincere Apology
2. Thanks and Apology
3. Making a Request
4. Getting Attention
5. Taking Leave
6. Affirmative Response
7. Ritual Greeting / Exchange of Acknowledgement

Starts to make a lot for a single fucking word don't you think ?
