Seriously though, they are just now noticing this behavior? It seems the Japanese' denial about what teenagers really are like comes off one revelation at a time. I wonder what is next, them finding out that teens sometimes insult each other and get in fights?

I'm not sure as to where the rest of the world stands on this, but I know that beginning in middle school and probably occuring throughout the rest of their fucked-up lives kids are cutting themselves....I don't have any explanation for why they do it in America, but it happens A LOT here.

It would be so much healthier if they'd just follow RobPongi and do the "plastic bag shuffle"
