I am sure they are around... but there is such protectionism for Japanese grown rice that the tarriffs, quotas etc make the cost prohibative.. this is not the case for the rice used in sembe...

Seriously, the rice lobby has poisoned people's mind against foreign rice so much. I witnessed this first hand during a rice shortage several years ago.

It would seem that the government would prefer to cheat their own citizens. This happens in a number of other areas also, such as the tobacco industry, however rice is something that many families eat here up to 3 times a day.

People are paying exhorbitant prices for their staple food, all for the sake of a few votes.
