If you eat the dolphin, I think it is fine. But this is for business. This is to limit "competition" and the way they killed the dolphins seemed inhumane.

I am not an eco hippy tree hugger. I personally wouldn't eat nor kill a dolphin, chimp, whale, or the like.

A deer, cow, chicken, pig, no problem. It's my preference, my choice.

But the point is the reason these dolphins were killed... it could be avoided as I have emphatically stated in my previous posts.

Favorite line from that page - If you can't make your point without exaggeration and lies, it isn't that important a point.

I'm confused, I thought Japan had a law against foreign nationals protesting... that their tourist visas could be immediately revoked.

Any thoughts?

A Guide to Japanese Visas
Overseas Japanese diplomatic establishments may not issue a visa to an applicant who comes under the following categories or is suspected of coming under these categories:
-If it is feared that the applicant will engage in activities that harm the interests of and disturb public order in Japan.

This applies to visa applications; I'm not sure if it can be applied retroactively.

At the least, can't the fishermen get some sort of restraining order against the nutters?

Unfortunately not as simple. They could block them at Narita but that requires quite a lot of negotations I think. :x As for the restraining orders - I wish. The police are trying, but I think they have to be careful - the hippies seem to have friends in high places and the cops know it. 8O

It will come to a blow soon I think - someone will pull a bunch and that will be the end thankfully. I am actually thinking of mistranslating some stuff just to push them over the edge and speed things up  Probably means I will get a black eye in the deal too

Here in South Wakayama, the Hippie War is heating up..... :(

Currently in the bay there are about 30 pilot whales(large dolphins) penned in, due for slaughter on Sunday AM. I am on call to translate in the "Cat and Mouse" game between hippie, police, fisherman etc.....and getting myself higher up the hippie black list 8O

I was awoken at 4am today by irrate fishermen - to translate - there was the Hippie("The Last Samurai" ) and a new wannabe FG.......... This chap goes under the name of *something* McNamara....a US Journalist(TV?) aged 39, and the Grandson of Robert McNamara - Secretary of Defense to Kennedy and Johnson etc etc. Apparently a name carries in the US(Royalty eh? ) Question: Do any US FGs know who I am on about? Further info on this guys identity would help :?:  Thanks :)

Funny thing was at 4am this McNamara chap was dressed in a wetsuit, snorkel, flippers mmmmm planning to cut the nets? 8O  Hippie in discuise :?

The Cat and Mouse antics - totally mad

Another thing - can any of you computer wizz FGs tell me for sure if this photo is touched up or not - comments please. I think it is. Its been in newspapers worldwide - if it is touched up , why was it allowed to be printed? 8O

I am worried - the hippies know my name and number - will they firebomb my house in the   UK?

Um, why did you get involved if you hate hippies so much?

Well.. from the video that's on the page you provided, it doesn't appear to be retouched: http://video.seashepherd.org/video/taijislaughter.MPG

Did you watch the video? Or do you see only what you want to see, like most extremists both left and right?

It's possible to retouch video, but much more difficult. Considering the number of dolphins killed (many), the size of the cove (small), and the method in which they're being killed (knives), I think it's legit..

i draw japanese anime for sunrise, what do you do besides say the word hippie in every post loser? some people care about animals, you however have no cause, great, i think everyone has heard you say the word hippie over and over again. from your posts alone everyone can easily see your insecurity. dolphins and whales btw are not fish they're mammals. the fisherman have jobs to defend and the protestors have animals to defend you're just on the sidelines being ignorant.

Agreed. And I did mention that. But it IS harder than a single photo.

From what I could tell by the novice camera work, I wouldn't expect them capable to manipulate colors that easily. If the water is a similar color to that of anything else, it too would be changed. Unless they created an image mask..

The colors ARE saturated, but why isn't it possible to think it's legitimate? Have you ever gutted 60 child-sized mammals in a small cove, where water circulation is limited due to constant swells pushing ashore?

I say it COULD be doctored. But in my opinion it isn't.. beyond saturating the existing colors.

But in this current world of only 'us and them', I predict people will see only what they want.

I was asked. Some of the fishermens kids are my students etc...... I am the nearest J-speaking FG to the town etc. When I translate ofcourse I am neutral. I still have my opinion - the hippies are winning the media war, they are effective liars, they use emotive language as opposed to evidence/fact - the fishermen are lossing this "war" :? :(

I watched the videos, I have seen many hippie videos that have not been released to the public - I was also a witness to that slaughter and others. In my mind there is something fishy 8O - those jpegs/mpegs have been manipulated - what I need to know can you more independant FGs back up my suspicion? Why would touched up photos be taken by the worlds media?

retouching color isn't that hard on video

But is it easy to disguise? - I mean so that any user would find the abuse difficult to detect?

Question: if the activists cut the nets, isn't that property damage? Couldn't they be carted away for the 21 days in the cooler?

They were caught, before they did damage - in suspicious circumstances, wetsuit etc. If there was a knife they must hvae thrown it in the sea....
In Japan there is suspicion by association, so hopefully they will get to meet J-Big Babba in a 6' by 4'! - Having said that, the police are playing carefully knowing the worlds media are upon them

Well if you were there, why don't you tell us what you saw. Was the water that red, or not? Why does something smell fishy if you witnessed everything? It's either yes it was that red, or no it wasn't..

It's not suspicion if you know they've been manipulated. How have they? Edited? Saturated? Colorized?
japslapper wrote:Why would touched up photos be taken by the worlds media?
I guess you missed the 'See through' skirts thread.. http://www.fuckedgaijin.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2620&highlight=skirt

You also remember Powell's PowerPoint Presentation at the United Nations (PPPPUN), don't you? Manipulation is key to all extremist's survival. Sometimes the truth isn't shocking enough to combat apathy and instill fear.

Japslapper: I agree that it is "retouched". Look at the color of the blood on the animals in the boat, its the same color as the water which would have to be (imo) over 75% blood to be the same (or nearly so) color as the fresh blood on the animals. Ask someone from the docks to look at those photos. Heck, look for old Greenpeace footage on whaling to see what the water around those ships looks like as they are harvesting. Plus, how many animals were killed that morning? About 60? A dolphin couldn't have more than about 5 gallons of blood at most, times 60 is only 300 gallons. In a cove of a couple thousands??? Yeah, that's the real color of that water...and I got this here deed to a bridge in San Fransisco I'm willing to let go cheap...

you would be very surprised what is possible with even freeware that is available. a clip like that would seriously take less than half an hour to do. individual pictures, even less time

they should restrict the cliffside to "authorized personnel" only during the hunting season... with the hippies not being authorized of course when they violate it just give em the old 21 days and send em packing never to return.

- they are trying that - but the world media are on them, looks like the j-cops etc are running a bit scarred.

Robert McNamara was Secretary of Defense under JFK. Before he worked in government, he was President of Ford Motor Company.

Who cares about his son?

Go rent "13 Days" if you want to learn more about his father.
