Facebook is broken

Postby yanpa » Fri Jan 31, 2014 9:02 pm

Every few days I get a plaintive missive from Zuckerberg asking if I know a bunch of names I vaguely recall from past decades but probably wouldn't recognize the owner if we passed on the street... but recently I think their algorithm has jumped the shark and is coming up with names which sound like they've been pulled out of a random generator.

No, I do not know "Silvana SecretBatgirl".

It's sort of a book of faces, but online. More something for the older generation, the hip youngsters are all into swapping Vines on Line or something, so I hear.

Meanwhiled, from Inked-in (the social network for tattooed people), it seems I share a mutual connection with a "Seasoned digital contents and online advertising professional", whatever that is.

Wasn't there a theory that everyone is related to everything by three degrees of separation or some such? So you might as well know anyone, which saves Fecebook the cost and hassle of cranking their database for you.

The feature can be tunred off, in case you were not aware..

Yes, but no matter how much or little I use it, I don't care for a hundred e-mails a day telleing me about the exciting and wonderful things that happen, while I am not there and whose acquaintance's acquaintance I have yet to befriend :)

Yikes, that reminds me - this year will be my 20th year of e-mail in Japan (I worked at a software company/ISP in '94, and yes, getting an e-mail was a pretty rare occurrence).

Facebook a big contributor to the committees in Congress that will question Mark Zuckerberg

USA Today wrote:
[...]
The congressional panel that got the most Facebook contributions is the House Energy and Commerce Committee, which announced Wednesday morning it would question Zuckerberg on April 11.

[...]

Of the 55 members on the Energy and Commerce Committee this year, all but nine have received Facebook contributions in the past decade

This is my Facebook timeline for the last two weeks or so:

Looks like all my friends and acquaintances have left Facebook, they still show up on my friends list, though. Or maybe it is just a case of "if it costs nothing, it's worth nothing".

Anyone else with something like that?

Mark Zuckerberg is struggling to explain why Breitbart belongs on Facebook News

The Verge wrote:On Friday morning, Facebook announced its plan to spend millions of dollars on high-quality journalism, fueling the launch of a new dedicated news tab on its platform. CEO Mark Zuckerberg joined News Corp CEO Robert Thomson for an interview soon after, and Thomson hammered home the need for objective journalism in the age of social media, waxing nostalgic about the importance of rigorous fact-checking in his early career.

An hour later, however, Zuckerberg struggled to explain how Facebook’s most controversial new partner fits into its mission.

Facebook News is partnering with a variety of regional newspapers and some major national partners, including USA Today and The Wall Street Journal. But as The New York Times and Nieman Lab report, its “trusted” sources also include Breitbart, a far-right site whose co-founder Steve Bannon once described it as a platform for the white nationalist “alt-right.” Breitbart has been criticized for repeated inaccurate and incendiary reporting, often at the expense of immigrants and people of color. Last year, Wikipedia declared it an unreliable source for citations, alongside the British tabloid Daily Mail and the left-wing site Occupy Democrats.

That’s led to questions...

Who has still questions about Facebook?

I don't even have an account there.

Why Trump Should Embrace His Facebook And Twitter Bans
https://www.forbes.com/sites/abrambrown ... tter-bans/

The system with its Twitters and Facebooks Always was broken? It always had open back doors for spying on peoples phones and emails...and those who spoke out would be censored by the technocracy?
Facebook created by a secret DeepStates and Pedos and Blackmailers to spy on everyone's status? The Technocracy and a collection of spooks from Israel, Canada, you got the CIA and the British, you already had MySpace, it crashes next you get Book Face was created by the cia-gay clown spooks?
That Myspace guywas weird but never tried spy, influence political weirdos, to crash elections, a hang out for hipsters, the shitty wannbe musicians and hooker prostitutes and Yea having to rank your best friends
SocialMedia soons becomes Fascism Socialist media
were indirectly funded and guided (groomed) by all the heavy hitters. Interesting article listing all the players & their roles. https://medium.com/insurge-intelligence ... 36451a959e
By 2007, a year after the Island Forum meeting that included Gilman Louie, Facebook received its second round of $12.7 million worth of funding from Accel Partners. Accel was headed up by James Breyer, former chair of the National Venture Capital Association (NVCA) where Louie also served on the board while still CEO of In-Q-Tel. Both Louie and Breyer had previously served together on the board of BBN Technologies — which had recruited ex-DARPA chief and In-Q-Tel trustee Anita Jones.Facebook’s 2008 round of funding was led by Greylock Venture Capital, which invested $27.5 million. The firm’s senior partners include Howard Cox, another former NVCA chair who also sits on the board of In-Q-Tel. Apart from Breyer and Zuckerberg, Facebook’s only other board member is Peter Thiel, co-founder of defense contractor Palantir which provides all sorts of data-mining and visualization technologies to US government, military and intelligence agencies
Fuckerberg now he could be atheist but he's probably attended those masonic babylon rituals and he even has that Jew cap or Kippah
Then other guy no longer around? You got an early Myspace account then he's probably still your first friend on myspace. He never responded to msgs but that's ok. Youve been friends for years ...finally gets eaten by Murdoch who in turn is eaten by the big Disney Mouse
