I am certain there will be lots of price gouging happening until things settle down. The dark side of the moon will be the decreased demand and then there might be some download pressure on prices. Or it could just be chalked up to some inflation.

I love the way they get to the bottom of every story. Aaaah, Asahi.............A rather enjoyable Japanese GST 9/11 blogger was predicting this. It's a long awaited excuse shrouded in the tax excuse = Shou ga Nai strategy (his words). He was foaming at the mouth, if it's any consolation.

Still, 220 for a cup of almost decent coffee be pretty cheap. Normal gas station coffee here is about 3 bucks. And it's shiite.

Do they still kick out prissy white stewardesses for sitting there for 3 hours without buying anything? (it was in the news a bit ago) That would get my patronage. Not to mention freeing up 4 counter spaces at one blow.

PS apparently Mosburger is in on it too. Tip o' the iceberg, I say. Have wages gone up yet?

A lot of pent-up inflation coming out as well methinks. All those prices which have remained exactly the same since the 90s.

That's awesome !!!

You can witness in real time how fast these popturds group vanish from peoples mind when they are no longer forcefed to the mass with every car/food/hemorrhoid cream commercial...

So, before the AKB48 sluts there was the Morning Musume spunkdumpsters, same no talent-jailbait modus operandi. Teens shaking their poopers more or less in rhythm with ear piercing music to cater to the local pedo-flacid crowd of sweaty otakus and braindead low wage salarymen who can't afford soaplands.

Edit:

Holy tripping balls !!! They are still alive http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morning_Musume maybe you can manage to pork one of their sisters too...

AKB make fuck all in terms of pay. they just get hella free stuff and a nice mansion to live in. The family own a cafe... which does good due to the PR, but she (my lemur) probably makes JPY3M a year.

Not worth IMO, but stuck with her for the time being.

Japan’s Worst Auto Sales in 16 Months Show Hangover Begins
Call it Japan’s Great Hangover.

Vehicle deliveries last month in Asia’s second-largest auto market fell to the lowest since December 2012 after Japan raised its consumption tax for the first time 17 years, according to industry figures released yesterday. In the run-up to the levy being increased 3 percentage points to 8 percent on April 1, sales had surged for seven straight months.

More broadly, the figures may foreshadow the extent of the consumer backlash resulting from the higher taxes Prime Minister Shinzo Abe imposed to counter the world’s biggest debt burden. Economists estimate that this quarter, Japan will see its biggest economic contraction since the earthquake and tsunami that ravaged the country three years ago.

“Any sane person was buying big-ticket items in February or March rather than in April,” Martin Schulz, an economist at Fujitsu Research Institute in Tokyo, said by telephone. “The Japanese carmakers will have to prove how much they really can work this very difficult market.”

Total sales fell 5.5 percent to 345,226, according to the Japan Automobile Dealers Association and Japan Mini Vehicle Association. The slump may deepen this month as poor weather prevented some customers, who placed orders before the sales tax increase, from getting their cars delivered until April.

Yearlong Slump

The delay made industry sales for April artificially high, and the numbers could turn “very grave” starting this month, Yoshitaka Hayashi, a director at the dealer association, told reporters yesterday.

Carmakers are bracing for a yearlong slump, with the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association’s forecasting a record 16 percent sales decline for the fiscal year ending in March 2015...
