I'm not entirely sure about the chronology there. The dual flush toilet cistern has in effect two tanks, half flush empties one of them, full flush empties both. It is different from the 大小 flush toilets with one tank, with 小 emptying some or all of the tank depending on time open, and 大 emptying it all. Someone with greater experience will be able to comment on whether they saw a 大小 flush toilet in the wild in the seventies.

I believe I played with 大小 (big/little) flush toilets at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, but my memory at age 12 is a bit hazy now.
