AKB Members Injured in Attack

Postby Hijinx » Sun May 25, 2014 6:49 pm

This news is hitting the J-fan like a pile of unchi about now.

Some signing event in Iwate, some nut attacked the girls with a knife.

Again, this is all very fascinating but it is even better if you also provide a link to where you saw the news. Otherwise you may as well post on FB.

You call that a knife? It seems he used a saw!!! http://www3.nhk.or.jp/news/html/2014052 ... 71000.html

I also love this out of touch reporting. 10 points for honesty though

They use these 列 things called lanes!!!

It kind of seems that the AK48 Machine is trying to keep this news on the downlow.

AKB48 members and staff injured in attack at handshake event
onehallyu.com | by hyoyeon , Today, 04:07 AM
A handshake event in Iwate in which fans can meet their favourite members of AKB48 was cancelled this afternoon after someone supposedly attacked some members with a sharp object.
Not much is known about the event so far but a staff member has reportedly been stabbed in the hand and at least two members are injured. Will update.

Snotted... Very good topic, nothing to back it though.

I guess I should ask my ex to get the low low on this.

How about "I just saw on TBS News that..." or whatever. It does help to know where the information comes from. For all we know it could have been from Christopher Johnson's twitter feed.

With breaking news that head on the TV/radio news, normally we post exactly that:

AKB48 members injured by saw-wielding man in Iwate
THE ASAHI SHIMBUN -- May 25, 2014
MORIOKA--A saw-wielding man injured two members of the popular idol girls group AKB48 and a man believed to be a staff member on May 25 at an event to greet fans in Iwate Prefecture, police and other sources said.
One of the two injured AKB48 members is Rina Kawaei, 19. The name of the other member was not immediately available, they said.
Police apprehended the 24-year-old assailant...
...
The incident occurred just before 5 p.m. in the Iwate Sangyo Bunka Center (Iwate industry and culture center), named Apio, in Takizawa in the central part of the prefecture.
The three injured people were immediately transported to a hospital by ambulance. Their injuries are not life-threatening...

Oh damn! It seems he is from Towada City in Aomori. About 45km from here. The mass commi trucks will be high tailing it to Iwate and Aomori tonight in time for tomorrow's morning shows! Seems he is an unemployed dude.

Rina Kawaei and Anna Iriyama were the AKB Members who were attacked.
rocketnews24.com/2014/05/25/newsflash-akb48-members-attacked-by-saw-wielding-fan-at-handshake-event/

Also:
There is a lot of confusion about the "saw" that was used as a weapon. That is, the Japanese reports seem to use "saw" and "serrated blade" interchangeably. :???:

...The man was identified as Satoru Umeta, 24, unemployed, from Towada in neighboring Aomori, the police said. He allegedly assaulted the young performers with a saw, prompting an emergency call that a man with a blade was acting violently in the event hall.
The fan event was got underway in the city of Takizawa at 1 p.m., according to the pop group’s website. The attendees are said to have included Minami Takahashi, one of the group’s most popular members.
It is not known why he attacked the group or whether the two dancers were specifically targeted.
Kawaei’s right thumb was cut and fractured as was Iriyama’s right little finger, the management office said, noting they were taken to a hospital and underwent surgery. They also got cuts on their heads, the police said. The male staffer suffered cuts to his left hand...

It is a good sign, Hammer: the world is relatively calm. If there was anything really important happening in the world, this wouldn't get reported.

(I once read a neat summary of the four elements which make something newsworthy. Sadly, for all my searching I can no longer find it, so I am paraphrasing but it went something like this:

1. It involves rich people or famous people.
2. It involves a rich country.
3. It can be explained simply, especially if you can blame someone.
4. It is tragic.

This one ticks all the boxes. It is even better than a royal wedding!)

Again... not sharing the optimism here... Not like if there was not a coup in Ukraine, Thailand, anti Chinese riots in Hanoi and Saigon certainly with the blessing of Moscow, this just on top of my head...

None of them score on factors 1, 2 or 3. And certain opinion is that the Thai issue doesn't score on factor 4 either, but that is one of the things that give it a particularly poor score on factor 3.

Of course none of that is "cute," which apparently needs to be added to your list of newsworthy criteria.

Dunno if you guys noticed, but all in the US news now is this guy who killed 6 people because he was still a virgin at 22.

He ticks all boxes:

1. Spoiled brat of rich parents (dad is film maker).
2. US is still considered a rich country (kind of).
3. Easy to explain, and he blamed all womenhood for not wanting to fuck with him.
4. Yep, 6 young people died, very tragic.

He was in the same mind set as the Japanese guy, but his legal ownership of 3 guns made it a deadlier combination.
