More importantly, why is everybody so down on slaves again? I remember the seminal studies by the foxy Genovese twins that made great inroads in humanising these often maligned members of society. Whilst arguing that slave labour was inherently underproductive due to the slaves' inability to understand performance incentives and the true spirit of the capitalist work ethos, they noted that even in such a maligned and economically inefficient role the slaves themselves managed to construct and maintain a sense of dignity and self-worth that belied and often transcended the jaundiced eye with which they were so often judged.

Or perhaps Hijinx is really a fifth column revanchist seeking to reestablish a hierarchy of disdain?

On a POI, why are slaves being used to stock the supermarket shelves? I would think they would be more suited to the nitty gritty work of shucking and trucking than lying there being even less productive than even most slave labour inherently is. Besides, surely there are better places to view slaves than next to the produce section.

Yes, getting paid $30,000+ a year to work 2 or 3 hours at day at a job you're completely unqualified for is a lot like salve labor. Especially with all the time off in summer and at New Years. For the record I was an ALT, so I'm not knocking it.
