Derailment on the Odakyu Line

Postby Samurai_Jerk » Thu Jun 19, 2014 6:43 pm

It looks like there was a derailment on the Odakyu Line at little while ago. Not sure how serious it is but if you're in Tokyo or Kanagawa and planning on using it tonight you might want to make sure it's running before you do.

Train was out of service. No passengers on board, crew not injured. Service resumption estimated for 11pm.

Look like someone fucked around with a switch while the middle of the train was passing it...

It was only a matter of time. That line is so awful it's a miracle. I almost hit the emergency stop button like 8 times over the last few years.

In related news, the railway company's head office has released a brief announcement stating that the name of the line will be changed to the Dakkyu Line (脱臼線) to more accurately reflect current levels of service.

got stuck, was informed of a rescue, waited, had to pee, so we (gaijin) opened the door and jumped out. All the locals followed.

I bet that was followed by a bevvy of staff running up and down and blowing whistles and waving flags and urgent, harried PA announcements.

At like 2300 I was going home from Shimbashi on the JR towards Ebisu... was held up for about 20 min. I figured there was a jumper down the line somewhere.
