Terrorists Hit Tokyo: You're Predictions when?

Postby Big Booger » Wed Nov 19, 2003 11:23 am

I say near to New Years. Not too sure if it will ever happen, but if it does, I'd say near a holiday when lots of Japanese are concentrated in one area. The Embassy in Iraq was already attacked, from what I have heard. I could be mistaken about that though.

I believe their revenge will be more subtle.......I mean I know quite a few J-birds who have married muslims and converted.....serious! Before we know it this place could be Japastan :?

Getting explosives into Japan is quite hard - poisoning a wter supply or something must be a possability?

Japan really is small fry - they will get London or the US, again, before they try here I guess

New Years?

Postby GomiGirl » Wed Nov 19, 2003 1:38 pm

Tokyo over New Years is practically empty.. you could fire a cannon off in Shibuya and not hit even one gyaru.

Everybody is out of town on their 4 day, 10 city bus tours of Europe/America or in the countryside making the annual pilgrimage to family homes to watch their grandparents choke on mochi....

But as I will be in Vietnam* they can blow up the place so I can collect on my insurance.

* Major Dad is taking us all to visit the places in Southern Vietnam that he knew during his 68-70 tour-of-duty.. could be kinda wierd for all concerned.. CS.. shall I bring back any omiyage for you?

They'd be the first strung up if a islamifacist group claimed responsibility for murdering Japanese. I'd give any Japanese woman wearing a traditional islamic headgear a snowball's chance in hell of wearing it in public after an attack.

I'm going to say that there won't be an attack, but if there was, we'd see some sort of mobilization law pronto. 8O

With my luck it'll probably be some terrorist that hijacks the plane I'm on when I'm starting my year at Nihon University, trying to crash into the terminal at Narita, or Tokyo City Hall, or something. Good thing I know how to snap necks, and have a copy of Flight Simulator 2002. :D

Oh god, please don't let me jinx it...

I guess I'll go back to practicing my stealth takedowns now.

Shows my ignorance about Tokyo and New Years hehehehe.. I just kind of had a brain fart.. I suppose all the Tokyo-ites would head home for the holidays.. or travel abroad LOL..

I wonder if and when it will happen. Will they go the airplane route? Will they hit the subway? An embassy perhaps? Some famous spot like Tokyo Tower or Tokyo Disney?

Also is Japan going to step up homeland security after the troops are deployed?

Sure, a lot of people travel or go back to their furousato, but there are still plenty of people in Tokyo at new years. They hang out at home a lot so the street might seem empty, but try going to Meiji Jingu and you'll find plenty of people!

Yoyogi Station @ 11:45 Pm Wednesday 31st December would take out about 3,000 people packed on the station, disrupt all trains in Tokyo (It's the only day they run all night) Ignite the vast underground oil storage facility ergo creating a firestorm all across central Shinjuku (possible razing Meiji Jingu) and deal a immense psychological blow to the Japanese people on the eve of the New Year.

This would easily equal the shock of 9/11.

Next thing you know Japanese troops would stomping around Afganistan loking for...oops aready been done.

I'd hate to see this happen, but I think it will. Security here is rather loose. But the thing about Japan is no matter where you are, there are usually eyes watching all the time.

Let's not give them any ideas...

I worry enough about earthquakes and catching chlymydia (again). Worrying about terror attacks is exactly what they want...so let's be stubborn.

I had this conversation with my student just today, he seemed to believe that there is no way terrorists could smuggle missiles or weapons into Japan, but I said to him what about the Aum attack, a little Sarin in the subway system, or anthrax in Tokyo station just before everyone heads home for the New Years holiday. That would be far more deadly. I think Japan is woefully prepared for any type of attack, they have this island mentality that nobody can penetrate fortress Japan. No luck sir, it looks like you are next in line. At least that's my two cents worth.

The subways are a horrifically effective place for an attack. Look what one yutz in Korea managed to do:

http://research.lifeboat.com/skorea.htm

182 dead from a container of gasoline and incompetent station personnel.

Six subway officials face charges of negligent manslaughter, which carries a maximum of five years in prison.
Most of the victims were passengers on the second train whose conductor allegedly fled without opening the doors, leaving victims trapped in the flames. Police said doors were open on only two of that train's six cars.

Damn, I forgot that the death toll was so high. The Aum thing injured a lot of people but not nearly that many died. I guess when it comes to killing people, simple is best.

Did they ever sentence those subway employees? I don't think people should be punished for panicking in an emergency. Nobody really knows what they would do until it happens to them. Even people who are heroic in one situation might really blow it in another. The only one who should punished is the arsonist. Everyone else is a victim.
