Sinjuku

Postby matsuki » Tue Jul 22, 2014 1:41 pm

Anyone see anything about a fight or something of the sort in Shinjuku last night? Was on my way home, walking towards Kabuki-cho, when I saw this lemur walking towards me doing some sort of "got the funk" dance. As I got closer, I realized she was trying to avoid stepping on all the blood spatter....it was like a Dexter crime scene  When I looked up, there was a rather tall J-d00d stumbling around, looking confused, and covered in blood. (looked like it was coming from his forehead but there was sooo much it was hard to tell) I had to cross the street there so watched on as a girl (gf?) came at him with a skateboard (his maybe? she wasn't dressed for it) and started crying/screaming 「もう帰ろうよ!!帰ろうよ!!」The guy pretty much ignored here and went storming across the street, blood flying everywhere and people moving out of his way....all the way into Kabukicho with the little girl in tail, still screaming 「帰ろうよ!!帰ろうよ!!」I had things to do so rather than video and follow the dude, I went on my way but it was definitely one of the more interesting scenes that have unfolded in front of me.

On another tangent, 99% of all the crazy shit I've seen happen in Shinjuku has been in that area....for all that craziness and traffic, why no koban?

Conversely ... no koban = all that craziness?

Maybe he just fell off his skateboard trying to do a trick. One good gash on the head will produce a lot of blood.

Nothing to add to the conversation except to say that "Sinjuku" is a good shorthand for Kabukicho.

The way it was playing out, he was definitely after someone though. Could have been tripped or maybe ran into someone who in turn gave him a good one to the head.

Sinjuku koban are rather infamous for dealing with dangerous, knife carrying, gaijin terrorists. The koban in Golden Gai rousts me for my freed-slave papers all the time.

If you mean the incident took place on Yasukuni-dori at that spot (which to be pendantic isn't in Kabuki-cho), the closest Koban is a couple of blocks away on the ground floor of Lumine Est next to the station entrance. Here's a Yelp review

And here's a handy map of kobans in the vicinity.

Yanpa, yeah, at that spot...walking TOWARDS kabuki-cho. I realize there are kobans somewhat nearby in just about every direction....just saying it would make more sense to set one up at that exact spot cause that's where all kinds of shit always seems to be going down and sees an insane amount of foot traffic.

Mea culpa, I automatically assumed you were *in* Kabukicho  . But anyway "walking towards Kabukicho" doesn't exactly help pinpoint the area you were talking about...

I guess one could argue that having that station in Kabukicho doesn't really affect the crime right on it's doorstep either.

Didn't we already establish that Trouble follows Choko around? Don't construct kobans on expensive commercial real estate, just have a squad deployed around wherever he happens to be.
