I can't believe that she is still allowed to have custody of her child.

She most likely didn't even get arrested or the dude whi took the video probably didn't even go to the police.

Even if he did, they probably would suck their teeth and question him about how he got the video O_o

I've never seen anything quite that bad but I did see a lady berating and violently shaking a kid who looked to be about 4 or 5 years old in Shinjuku once. My instinct told me to step in and I almost did but then by brain took over and I realized there was no way that was going to end well for me or the kid. Best case scenario the cops come, tell her to stop, tell me to mind my own business, and the kid gets it even worse for being meiwaku when he gets home.

Usually I see the exact opposite...children going nuts/causing trouble and the parents either not paying attention or not giving a fuck. As much as many of the locals want to distance themselves from "Chinese" behavior, I've also seen quite a few families where the eldest son is treated like the little prince who can do no wrong, with the reasoning being that not only will he carry on the family name, but he is expected to take care of them when they retire and such. I've already seen two of these parents get put into old folks homes so maybe it's a self inflicted death sentence?

I remember back in my teaching days in the US asking the class to come up with a list of things they'd look for in a spouse. Two of the Japanese girls in the class said, "He shouldn't be a first-born son if he's Japanese." The Korean girls in the class agreed. Given the birth rates in both countries, that requirement might not be as easy to fulfill as it sounds.

My aunt/uncle in laws literally became millionaires when the grandparents died. The demanded it, came up with a bunch of excuses, etc. My lemur's father didn't put up a fight at all and just let them have it...but pretty much mentally wrote them off after that. (even though he still works with the uncle) I've yet to see what all those millions has bought them in terms of Nigata livin' but I'm pretty curious to see what they did with it all.

Here's one that's making the rounds that I really like. A bunch of happy Miyagi people grooving' to Pharrell Williams' "Happy," compiled by a small local Internet TV station, although they must have larger affiliations because some big names from Miyagi TV appear in it. Lots of familiar places (to me, anyway). The "Yuri-kan" right near my house makes a brief appearance near the end too.

"Droolies" ... I was wondering who'd be first with a comment like this. Shoulda known.

You don't have to like the song to appreciate the video, or the fact that it is a brilliant piece of songwriting if you consider that "selling a gazillion copies and making obscene amounts of money" is a primary goal.
