I have a Parisian friend who says the same thing, "I've got great friends there who I love to visit but by god if I have to hold a laugh in the whole time." Apparently it's akin to some kind of Appalachian accent to an American.

Anyway back on topic (and this thread could use it!). Thank god for Wendy's coming back. WTF ever happened in the last few years? I simply can't eat anything but chicken at any fast food chain here anymore, the "beef" is god awful and they try to cover it up by pouring black pepper and salt on it. The buns also got incredibly dry ruining it even more. Guess is it's cost cutting but disgusting either way. I've gone to only eating the occasional Sasebo burger or local burgers (and picking off the bacon and egg and other over-the-top crap Japanese think they need haha.)

But Jack-baiting is so much fun! It would've been even better had Iraira not told Jack to stop replying.

I'm also looking forward to Wendy's coming back, I just hope they don't end up limiting it as a Kanto-only thing like Burger King. :( I enjoyed Wendy's burgers (definitely the best of the cheap fast food options) and their chili.

Sasebo is good though, and I enjoy burger lunches at the Hard Rock Cafe in Osaka sometimes too.

I'm with you on the chicken. Some of the higher-end burger joints have gotten worse too. I had to stop going to Kuiana Burger a couple of years ago. I think everyone started using the lowest grade Aussie beef legally fit for human consumption and cooking the shit out of it. On the plus side, I've never liked BK that much but it seems their beef has actually improved a bit since first opening. Now if someone would teach the "gourmet" burger places not to toast the buns dry. I fucking hate the way they crumble in your hands when you try to eat.

I didn't want to count so you do it but I believe the number is even greater than that. In France alone there is over 1,000 types.

Also, don't mix my name with a Mexican city and call it cheese, ok?

Christ with tacos even Japanese cheese food stuff will do. I certainly wouldn't bother buying anything imported for that.

Hmmm.. I've always wondered what tacos could taste like if you used a really good cheese. Personally, I'm not about to waste my money to find out, but the thought is interesting.

From what I've heard my brother who was a chef (i.e. knows his food well) and has traveled in Mexico, the cheeze there is pretty bland so shredded monterey jack, mild cheddar or mozzarella are pretty good substitutes. If you don't feel like trekking out to the 'burbs for a Costco, Hanamasa's big blocks of cheese should do.

I see at most a few hundred types of cheese which is more in line with what I have seen mentioned elsewhere.

Along with math (see above) apparently geography and spelling are also not your strong points. Monterey Jack cheese comes from Monterey in California, not Monterrey in Mexico.

Hawaiian Ernie Higa Reintroduces Wendy’s Hamburgers to Japan
Forbes | 2012/11/28/
…
Wendy’s Japan is being reborn, Higa-style, not as fast food but as “fast casual,” quicker than a table-service restaurant, yet with better quality and atmosphere than fast-food outfits. “The fast-casual category has taken off in the U.S.–Panera Bread, Pollo Loco and so on–but doesn’t exist in Japan,” Higa says. A spiffy new shop design features agreeable lighting, comfortable seating and free Wi-Fi.
Tokyo these days boasts more Michelin three-star restaurants than Paris. So Higa is launching not just fast and casual but “fast-casual gourmet,” with offerings like the Foie Gras Rossini–a burger topped with goose liver pate, priced at 1,280 yen, about $16.30 (or 16 times the 80-yen cost of a plain hamburger at McDonald’s). Other premium items are an avocado-and-wasabi burger, a truffle-porcini-and-chicken sandwich and lobster salad…more…

Someone else corrected a more weighty error in the article about Hawaiians (as opposed to only mainlanders) being put into those internment camps for "Japanese" in the US back in WWII.
If you want to follow that with a burger price correction, go ahead.

But, the writer's response was to thank the commenter and correct the error. Though I haven't checked his Twitter to see if he's libeling her or threatening to settle this dispute with a shotgun..
