Tokyo metropolitan gov't mulls tax on advertising

The Tokyo metropolitan government is considering imposing a tax on businesses related to advertising such as ad agencies, commercial TV stations and corporate sponsors as a means to help ease chronic revenue shortages, metropolitan government officials said Wednesday....
A tax advisory panel to Tokyo Gov. Shintaro Ishihara plans to include the proposal .....The panel's report is likely to recommend making TV commercials the main focus of the tax...
