Ebola

Postby canman » Tue Oct 28, 2014 7:35 am

My wife just read that the first suspected case of Ebola is a Canadian journalist! It can't be our favorite Canadian journalist is it? That would be too weird. Anybody else know anything about this?
This would be the gift that just keeps on giving if it is true!
Well, according the morning news, it turned out to be a false alarm. None-the-less, my money is on our favorite Canadian journalist as being the guy.

Am surprised that CNN allowed such a 'report'!

Libelous is the term I would use. Digging into the 'reporter' 's background he appears to be a net uyoku with a penchant for historical revisionism.

Wow what is that? A page with CNN branding but is it a blog platform CNN provide or something? It is not even written in English, and they have "not verified by CNN" notices. Not a very classy move, not even for CNN. All media seems to be on a race to abandon relevance and reader's respect.

Do you think that's a typo or is he calling the guy a fag (not that there's anything wrong with that)?

it is hard to tell, what with the other grammatical errors, but he does make a thing of him being posted in San Francisco.

My favourite snippet of complete bullshit:

"Japanese people spent a sleepless night."
It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

Hahaha I remember your "cooperation" with the press at Copenhagen airport after the earthquake and tsunami. I look forward to this new proposal.

Been there funnily enough. Visiting a vocational college down the road a bit in Horsens. Our contact there was elected as a local councillor not long after which means that they have a very very liberal council and electorate in that part of the world.

 All I can remember of that Fri/Sat working trip was knocking off work for a very early lunch on the Saturday. That turned out to be BBQ organised by the construction department with facilities dutifully built by their students. Endless and incomparable sausages with bottle after bottle of very decent beer. Then dinner, drinks, more drinks ......

Sunday reminded me of the UK in the bad old days. A monumental hangover, deathly quiet and everything firmly shut. Struggled to the station and on to the train to the airport in the early afternoon. Finally arrived there with the sole intention of getting checked in and to the bar before I expired on the spot. I seem to remember a giant LEGO panda which did zero for my mood at the time.

But yeah, if it's possible to be just too nice, too decent and too liberal - they manage it.

The 'too nice, too decent, and too liberal' applies only to other Danes, and tourists/visitors. Go for a Gaijin card and that trap door slams violently shut after you go through it.

Hmmm. I did notice an alarming number of Danish flags and some Danish colleagues were complaining about entrenched xenophobia - So yes, I can well imagine that's the flip side of the coin. Where were they all on Sunday - At church? The owners of the hotel I was staying at just took off and told me to shut the door behind me when I left.

CHURCH???? ahahahahahah no.
Denmark has a fantastic number of religious holidays, yet the only actual religious people here are the immigrant ones wearing scarves on their heads. Sunday is just day off. Full stop.

Entrenched xenophobia? They're proud of it.

Seriously, do NOT get me started. When I left Japan in 2009, I thought that I was leaving the most xenophobic and racist country in the world. I was dead wrong. So much so that I am happily moving BACK to Japan after having seen what it is truly like to be treated like absolute shit as a foreigner.

And I want so much not to talk about it, that I will actually unhijack the thread and put it back to Ebola.

'flagged by the community'!! seems a bit crazy that CNN would just let people put up anything they want as an ireporter in the first place, shouldn't it have to go through an editor like regular reporters?

So the best defense he can come up with to counter the claims of comfort women is that in this one case the woman wasn't kidnapped by the Japanese military. She was sold into slavery by her parents. That makes it OK then because buying sex slaves is better than stealing them from their families for no compensation
