Went earlier this year, back already.
A Spa/resort between Da Nang and Hoi An (Chubu->Hanoi->Da Nang)
And we spend a day in Saigon for grocery/clothes shopping, heavy construction in District 1 for the new subway line. All else unchanged up to the regular cats in the open street meat market... And the weather... Always with the glorious morning and late afternoon thunderstorm...
spa a bit boring didn't went much/enough to Da Nang so it will be our target next year.We did see the fire spitting dragon bridge though... But by day only...
Try Hanoi, i now miss the place despite my first bad impression. The daily evening drop at a Gecko bar was cool... Feel like a student coffee shop in Paris Latin Quarter...
Can't tell you much if any aboot the titty bar and night clubs though... We're getting way too used to a city where everything shutdown between 8 and 9 pm...

Figure skating Olympians Miki Ando of Japan and Spain’s Javier Fernandez on Wednesday posted lovey-dovey messages on social media announcing they are a couple and saying they will build a “happy family”.
Ando and Fernandez uploaded a selfie showing them hugging each other with messages in English, Spanish and Japanese saying: “We just had started.”
Ando, 26, is a two-time world figure skating champion who retired last year after giving birth to a baby girl. She has never disclosed the identity of the baby’s father.

The wife told me about this last night. There has to be people here in j-land grinding their teeth about this based on how they reacted to her baby maybe hafu. But as long as they still have their Mao's purity I suppose the spirit of nipon should live on.

It was never open or direct (generally it never is here) however everyone that brought it up was SURE that the baby was takahashi's. My girls are in figure skating so I guess I catch more of skating b.s. than usual... meh.
kurogane wrote:If he's a skater too they probably knew each other before, but I have never heard his name and I ALWAYS at least glance at any Miki story in hopes of seeing archive photos of her panty pumpkin in mid-flight.

Her English is better than I thought...
Not even rumors which could be based on shreds of fact. The figure skating clique just WANTED it to be a japanese baby. That's the basis of their surety. It's just weird these people... I mean only 2 girls on the team down here are local. Most of them are rich girls (and 2 boys) who's parents ditched tokyo after fukushima happened. Figure skating isn't cheap anyways so it usually keeps out the locals. When Kenji Miyamoto or Takahashi or anyone well known comes here they get all gushi. They are heroes to them in a way and vicariously to the parents too. I guess it's the arrogant pride that get's me. To be fair not all of them are like that though.chokonen888 wrote:Were there pics of the baby or some sort of announcement or are we just talking rumors?
kurogane wrote:Yeah, I heard from the sort of wimminz that think it matters that the baby is by a Japanese father with whom she decided she had no future, hence her decision to pursue Yangu Mama status.

I guess the idea is that if their little darling grows to become an olympic level skater then the prospect of working with foreign coaches and trainers becomes highly probable. With Ando getting stuffed like a turkey by a gaijin and becoming a single mom may terrify j-moms everywhere.
