Kinda confused myself. Either "hoarding" or "holding" would work in this instance, no?

Of course either works - but IMO, hoarding isn`t appropriate for Nazis gold, since Nazis don`t exist anymore. Hence, the Swiss hold gold (bars, scrap) which was obtained from any source - Nazis, Inca, African, Klondike, etc.

Unless of course we find that this gold is indeed Nazis memorabilia - gold swastikas, gold SS rings, etc. - that hasn`t been melted down, not put in a museum, etc. - then hoarded.

I have a brother who hoards gold – he worships it, pulls it out and admires it, polishes it, dreams of it, buries it and digs it back up (honest), etc. He hoards gold, but does not hold gold (except when it is physically in his hands).

Yes. And I would say hoarding is better. More evocative and fitting.
It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

The third Reich don't exist anymore. Nazism is an ideology...

I was referring to the gold in swiss bank that belonged to member of the jewish community that were 360 no-scoped in nazi death camps...

So, jew-nazi-gold despite being toddler level contraption bring all the meaningful parameters to qualify it.

And the lack of enthusiasm shown by swiss banks to find descendant of the rightful owners while it can be politely referred as 'holding' is much closer to 'hoarding'...

Got it - and agreed, hoarding - or even stealing, may be most appropriate.

In some respect, the Swiss are not unsimilar to the Japanese. A little twist here and there in the history books and hoarding becomes holding. And, of course, the Swiss never lost a battle after Bibracte.

And rabbits become "roof-rabbits" (not sure if I ever ate a cat, might as well unknowingly)

Well I have - back at University, when a neighbor prepared one of the domestic `rabbits` I had raised and given him, but he substituted a cat. I thought he was a terrible cook, given that it was tough and stringy, while my rabbit was always soft and tender.

In the larger US cities during the war, they were called `back fence rabbits`, and this is what lead to a practice of leaving one foot with fur - as proof of rabbit. My neighbor was a student and was recreating war-time meals as part of his thesis research.

Vietnamese seaside city named top rising travel destination: TripAdvisor

A Buddhist beach sanctuary between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam has been named the top rising destination of 2015 by TripAdvisor, in a new list that features unheralded travel hotspots.

Topping the list is Da Nang, Vietnam, which saw the greatest increase in positive feedback and interest from the TripAdvisor community, year-over-year.

One of my high school students brought in her dead cat today and wore it as a scarf. Say hello to Pooky!

Hulk cat?!?

Postby Russell » Thu Dec 04, 2014 11:36 pm

The sight of this bright green cat on the streets of Varna in Bulgaria has caused a certain amount of uproar in the Black Sea resort town. Because of the assumption that the cat was painted in green by a vandal a facebook group named 'Punishment to the the perpetrator of this criminal act!' appeared online. But in fact the emerald green cat is this hue reportedly because it usually sleeps on an abandoned heap of synthetic green paint in a garage.

Fur tinted keeping its pattern... That would make a lot of work for a "vandal" and anyone doing this on purpose would be easily traceable, by the amount of blood transfusion and stitches needed...

But, better safe than sorry, let's kill anyone even remotely involved.

(Can't we blame Fukushima, Chernobyl or Obama instead ?)

well, now I know how to get rid of cats... now I just need to figure out how to get rid of little rat-like dogs... preferably my neighbor's.

Space heaters can be pretty dangerous. A couple of years ago I burned a hole in my suit pants at an izakaya when I stood too close to their antique kerosene stove. It happened very quickly too. Luckily it was an old suit and I had two pairs of trousers to go with it so I could still wear the jacket. The weird thing was they were kind of dicks about it. They pretty much blamed me even though they had the thing sitting directly in front of the shelved where you put your bags requiring you to lean over it. They seemed to think I should have known that accidentally brushing against the grate on the front of the heated would instantly destroy my pants. Doubly weird because I'm a regular and wasn't trying to get anything out of them as compensation.

Sounds like cheap polyester pants

Also sounds like a standard shirk-responsibility-at-any-cost response, even if it involves totally untenable logic.

Yeah, it was one of those 2-man yen "easy order" Japanese suits. I think the material was a wool-poly blend. I used to buy decent suits but once I had a job where I had to wear one everyday, I decided it wasn't worth it. Plus, I noticed that most the locals wear cheap shitty suits as well so I figured there was no reason to try to impress anyone. Now I get my suits made when I'm in Vietnam.

The only suit I have that currently fits and is functional is my black formal for weddings and funerals (change the tie to suit the occasion).

But yeah, poly blends are fine for daily use. You just have to remember that they burn easily, and fast. Ouch.

Reports of cats jumping into fire are older than their domestication. Part of what create the mystique around them, unlike inferior creature they are not afraid of fire but attracted to it.

The good thing with the pants of that type of suits is that their size can be adjusted, making them useful for a lifetime...
