I have decided to start a web picture blog. I am a newbie to the potography scene. Pleaes any recommandation on a camera with good quality willbe appreciated.
Read this thread it will probably tell you all you need to know.
Almost everybody will recommend the canon IXY 400. I bought one and am extreamily impressed with its quality. And its not so expensive either you should be able to pick one up for around 45000yen. My GF has a fugi finepix 700 which has some kind of weird CCD that is actualy 2 3megapixel working together to give you 6 well not really but its quality is pretty good but its video kills the canon. But who cares about video if you just want it for pics.
THe only problem I have with my canon is night shots. As the apateure is small it exposes the ccd for a long time. So expect camera shake, but i actualy like overexposing can compensate for the shake by leaning on something.

I think that all depends on the care that the second hand product had.. you really are going to get what you pay for.
I would say though, that with new and cheap, if you have a problem, often times you can take it back to the place where you purchased it and get the issue solved on the spot.
With second hand merchandise, that option is generally not available and most often you have to resort to contacting the manufacturer and going through the warranty scenario.
Which brings up the point that often times, manufacturers fail to warrant a second hand purchase.. check the warranty before you make the purchase if indeed you go that route.
Before I used to be under the opinion that secondhand prices should be around 50% or the original price. But in japan its more 80-85% which is a bit high. Even softmap where everything looks new the stuff is actualy second hand or factory refurbished and is around 87%. I looked at that yahoo auction page and its about the same.
I will buy second hand if i think it is worth the risk. But in Japan its a bit of a joke at 85% Its much better to buy new in that case.
Saying all that I am at the moment looking for a medium format film camera. Yes a film camera haha... I was thinking about a mamiya rb67 pro 2. THey are pretty easy to find but are ususaly around 150 000 for desent one. I found a shop in shinjuku near the big virgin that sells then for around 80,000 and some others for a really good price. They have a few digital camera but still a bit expensive. but the film cameras have been the best i have found.
I have Canon's Optura200MC. It's both a DV and still camera. The still pictures are not super ultra 500megapixil quaility but they are still very good. The video is superb for a non-3ccd class cam and the optics are the best in the industry. If you want super high resolution photos then pick a different camera, but then again you are using the images for the web so they can't be too nice... http://canondv.com/optura200mc/index.html
I will second the recommendation for the Canon Ixy 400. Phenomenal camera, not to mention the fact that I work for a competitor of Canon's and bought the Canon because it was the best.
