I tried to stop at 33 (nice round number, and it was a really good year), but I was already 37. It seems it don't work retroactive like.

Physically I feel about 46, but last week it was more like 146. That swimming thing sure helps.

Hey,
Yeah, that was the conclusion I came to. The aquasthenics helped so much I gave up on the hospital idea and the expensive snake oil remedies. I think the 300 yen kata kori glycol rub thing helped a bit, as did a few aspirin, but it was the swimming and water ballet/yoga that really loosened it up, FTR. I sure I am glad it didn't take the 26 months that link says healing can take. I would have had to cut it off by now.

That was seriously fucked up painful.

About the only thing a doctor can do for you other than giving you pain killers is teach you some exercises and stretches. A good doctor who really knows physical therapy can definitely help speed up recovery and having an expert actually walk you through each movement step-by-step is better than googling the exercises. But good luck finding a good PA in Okinawa. They're hard enough to find in Tokyo.

Ah, Mistah Samurai, you too boocoo!!!!!!!!!!!!

How was it? I thnk I need to branch out and go heal the war wounds, maybe sometime in March, which is supposed to be quite pleasant. Might have to pick the assembled brains about that.

Anyhoo, thanks for the supplementaries; I am quite good about going to the doctor as needed but this time it didn't seem worth it to wait for 3 hours just to be told I had pulled my arm out of kilter. Besides, the swimming fixed it. Which is why I am going again right now.

PS Nice swim, great workout, arm feels better, but I still can't grab my hands behind my back going over the shoulder (which I can normally do). The moral of this story is DON'T GET THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vietnam was great as usual. This was my first time in Da Nang which is a bit more developed and pleasant than the rest of Vietnam. It was nice to go to relatively expensive Western-style bars and meet Vietnamese people that weren't trying to sell you pussy, drugs, or chewing gum (not that I have a problem with pussy, drugs, or chewing gum).

That all sounds loverly. I got very tired of the Great White Bwana treatment in Thailand, and India was a complete nightmare, but it would be great to go to nicer places and meet nicer people and still be in a fuky place with nice beaches. Somebody told me that Hoi An or some such is a nice beach resort. I think it was nearish Da Nang (central area, I fink). Anyways, yea.

Hoi An is about 30 mins or so by car service ($17) from Da Nang Airport which is pretty centrally located in Da Nang. It's much smaller than Da Nang but more of a tourist trap. However, unlike most other places in SE Asia, in general if you say "no thank you" to someone trying to sell you something in Vietnam they back off. Anyway, it's only about 30 km from DN to HA and they're serviced by the same airport so if you go to one and decide it's not for you, you could easily go to the other and you're close enough to check both towns out regardless of where you're staying. I preferred DN but most tourists seemed to like HA better. That being said I wasn't there for the beaches which is a good thing because the weather was pretty shitty most of the time. Both places have beach resorts that are supposed to be nice.

You'll be happy to know that local beer usually runs between 75 cents and $1.50 a bottle at most bars and restaurants. Even cheaper if you're drinking cans at a street-side pho stand or the like. I'm no beer snob and I know you're not either but I'd avoid the bia hoi AKA fresh beer. Even at 25 cents a glass it ain't worth it.
