a shame that it make you miss stuff like big picture or patterns though...

MODS, sincve this thread is totally out of topic and usefulness. Deleting it or moving it to beyond fucked seems like a good outcome...

So, you seem to have concluded that Wagyl was right in pointing out that Google Earth will have only a limited lifetime remaining?

more the fact that the same way I don't make eye contact with hobos (and poodles). I'd rather avoid self important shitstains like wagyl or complete retard giving insecure 14 years old a run for their money.

there are 2 major good things here compared to JT comment sections. Retard like wagyl are singularity instead of majority and mods are not clones of takechimp. But that don't make this guy anymore bearable.

as for google earth vanishing. 1- i don't give a fuck here since 2- it was not the topic 3- hey, now you got the blessing of the shitstain to use it anyway, despite its soon disappearance.

What is the topic here then? Since the OP is blank...

Or perhaps no threads on FuckedGaijin are permitted to meander. Please tell me if that is the case, and I will watch all threads very very closely, Monsieur.

I can't help thinking that someone can't cope with commentary. There was no criticism in what I have posted in this thread, only commentary. The criticism dike may burst one day soon, what with the departure of our dike expert.

Fun thing to try in Google Earth,
At the request of the Republic of Korea military and government, if you zoom in too much on South Korea is changes from Earth to Map mode.

They don't want to make it TOO easy for Kim Jung-un.

For similar reasons, street view and other features don't work in South Korea.

Not really knowing wtf you are all on about, I googled Google Earth and Google Earth Ends. I still don't get it.

Does this mean no more linked maps on real estate and restaraunt websites and such, or is The End more nuanced than that?

Google Earth: basically stitching aerial photos and map coordinate data onto a spherical globe surface which was an incredibly cool idea in 2005 and still impresses mightily. There is (or maybe used to be) a format for attaching your own coordinate data for links, basically making your own 3 D maps. There is a similar set up for the Moon and I think Mars as well. There is a pro version, with extra features surveyors and marketing people might use, which used to be a USD399 a year subscription but is now free.

Google Maps: merging 2 D map data with aerial photos and street level photo series. The data you entered in your own Google Earth 3 D maps used to be able to be transferred to Google Maps as well, but for no reason they abandoned that and upset a lot of people who had invested a lot of time in building their own map coordinate databases.

Another source not linked above voices concerns about the long term prospects of Google Earth continuing.

My view, obviously not shared by all, is that within some of this duplication, the cool, eye-catching, purchased by Google for quite a lot of money but ultimately less used product will be allowed to die a death. Google have form in this department. And although I made that comment only as a possible explanation why suddenly Google are being generous and giving away a tool most people will never actually use, when it used to be subscription based, the OP interpreted this as a direct attack on him making the announcement of the now free subscription, so in a hissy fit he deleted his post and changed the thread title, making his own thread unintelligible to anyone who was not reading at the time. Streisand Effect has also been evident.

They've evidently gone to the trouble of brewing up a fake street view of Seoul to confuse the Norks.

For years I thought that referred to the kneejerk wince you get when you hear cheesy music you abhor.

Thanks for the explanation. Very lucid.

I was wondering why it sucked so hard for SK when I was there last time. Thanks for the explanation.
