Gov't refuses 90% of Chinese student applicants due to crime fears

The government has refused more than 90% of Chinese applicants wanting to come to Japan to study Japanese because it believes they are increasingly breaking the law here, the Mainichi Shimbun newspaper reported Thursday.

So sad. 90% of that 90% are good kids who want a chance. They could lead (or assist) Japan into a new heyday.

"Good kids", sure. "New heyday", doubtful that's ever possible. However, more than 90% of the Chinese in my Japanese school on Mejidori were there ONLY to get a valid visa to be work part-time...14 hours a day. Actually, none of the 200+ students theoretically taking "classes" in the converted 4LDK were there to learn, ESPECIALLY me. :P I'd say the govn't is just closing down the obvious school scam which is rife with abuse (thank Buddha).
